Review - [Directory] SMFoogle.com

    Hello fellow DP members.

For the first time, I'm asking for some feedback regarding my directory, SMFoogle.com.

    What's happening right now:
    • Directory runs phpLD v3.10 (I paid for the footer backlinkless edition.)
    • Directory targets a niche -- Simple Machines Forum Websites.
    • Directory is well advertised on other directories / blogs / forum posts / word cloud sites.
    • Directory has several customized modifications, e.g. arrange submissions according to pagerank and provides more information in the 'link details' page.
    • Directory participates in banner exchanges with other websites.
    • Submitted sites are indexed relatively quickly by the major search engines.

    What isn't happening right now:
    • Traffic is "low."
    • Adsense revenue is almost non-existant.
    • Has not created a "buzz" in the forum community.
    • Following this, not many sites are taking advantage of this free service.

If a template redesign is in order, please structure your comments in such a way that I can refer the designer to this thread in order to implement your recommendations.

    Thanks!

I really like the glossy buttons and icons on your layout! The color scheme works well too :) However, I think the logo looks outdated (it's an old layer style..) I would get a more lighter web 2.0 clean glossy logo design rather than the harsh one you have at the moment.

To me the site looks really nice (I agree about the logo, though). I do not think that redesign is what you need -- but I do not have other answer, either.

"We only accept forums powered by the Simple Machines Forum software" - I know the SMF is a big community, I actually started an SMF forum because of a business dealing I had with you and am very pleased with it.

But, how many smf forums are there? And why would someone use your resource (from both perspectives, listings and searching). One thing I did not like when I clicked on submit is that I did not see a price to get listed (I did not look very hard and might have missed it).

Just found the 'free listing' part. Maybe you want to repeat that on the submit page just in case someone like me just bee-lines to that one.

    Thank you.

    Information updated.

PS, I'm looking for a custom design for the directory.

Very good job, I like it, well structured, you can find everything fast, perhaps increase font size a little, but the rest is fine.
