Review Blacklist - Ops please read

    Hello,

More and more DP members ask for review copies and in the end dont post or provide any review at all. Some of us put a lot of work in writing ebooks and get nothing in return from those "reviewers". In my humble opinion this is just another method for stealing an ebook -> getting it and providing nothing in return.

That's why i would like to ask the ops to make a sticky post for a "reviewers blacklist" where ebook writers can post the nicknames of people who get ebooks for free without providing the promised review.

Ops: I opened this topic here because i don't know where else to put it, if there is a better section feel free to replace it.

    Please discuss opinions.

    Regards.

PS: Reviewing is a serious task! If you take it, do it like a pro! I hand out review copies where the reviewers ask questions that are clearly explained in the sales thread, READ THE THREAD BEFORE ASKING FOR A REVIEW COPY!!

FunkyDog you are getting a thumbs up from me on this one. I SOO agree with you on this! I have had alteasy 15 - 30 copies stolen from me and have had no reviews left.

Some tips if you do plan on giving review copies:

    - give review copies to members YOU contact not members that contact you! In other words make sure that the member is reputable before you hand over the ebook that took you a while to write!

    I agree...even though I was late with mine...whoops.

I think there is a problem that is just as large, and it's the phony reviews. I can't tell you how many times that good reviews are left for the OP, only to find out after messaging the reviewers that the same method they praised in public...they were bashing in private! They are favors for the free review copies...and that totally cheapens and poisons the whole concept. It may be worse than no review because they are suckering newbies who do not know what to look for.

Something must be done on both fronts!

Good job in bringing it to the forefront...A suggestion off the top of my head is to have case studies documented. Instead of having reviews on the idea...let's have results posted when the method is used!

I did one thing: make the original eBook and the review copy will be watermarked with "review copy"

Good idea here but then we should stop with the review concept all together.... for this forum. Maybe a "ring" of trusted reviewers?

I agree so much with the phony reviews. There should be a rule against those PM's that ask for a "positive review"..... a review is a review, can be positive or negative. We should also implement a pointing system for the ebooks originality.

Good but this way you only prevent them from reselling.... the point is you still gave away a copy of YOUR method for free without anything in return.

I know that. I have a strategy for them not to get that for free. I'll share my strategy in some hours. Gotta go work now.

The problem with the 'ring' though is that you will most likly feel obligates. Plus (no offence to anyone here) im not going to be in a ring with people that have 0 feedback and less then 200 posts. thats not much credibility. If we did make a ring it would have to be secrative:)

Some good thoughts here. Definitely a problem that needs addressing.
