Hy please review an rate my site... Thank you! All sugestions are welcome! Site is: www.pc-informer.com
Pretty nice, simple yet modern. Not really a big fan of the double right sidebar, especially since the first one is practically empty and it looks like there is a huge gap in the website, aside from that is looks really good...
Crappy little fixed width (until the media queries kick in really narrow) with illegibly small fixed metric (px) fonts, pretty much reeking of "WCAG, what's that?". The giant empty column of NOTHING wasting a quarter the display (the part below the social stuff) is annoyingly useless cramming what little text you do have into painfully small areas, excacerbated by the justified text. This is made even worse by the stupid malfing image rotator, which is probably the only major obstacle to opening it up as a PROPER semi-fluid and responsive layout. (and probably why you had to kill it when making the responsive version). Under the hood, it's just another sloppy HTML 3.2 train wreck masquerading as 4 Tranny. Endless pointless javascript for who knows what, typical turdpress garbage endless pointless DIV and classes, nothing remotely resembling semantic markup or logical heading orders, static style inlined on EVERY blasted line, pointless/redundant use of the TITLE attribute, absolute URL's on everything... 45k of markup to deliver 5k of plaintext and a dozen and a half actual content images -- likely anywhere from 3 to 4 times as much code as should have been needed! Site is painful to watch load too -- hardly a shock with it being 2 MEGABYTES!?! in an ungodly 116 separate files... FOR THAT? There is little legitimate excuse for that page to be more than 140k (not counting the image rotator I'd axe anyways) in 24 files or less.... and it could possibly come in even smaller than that -- making the whole thing five to ten times the size it needs to be. Most likely cause -- slapping together off the shelf solutions like turdpress without firm enough a grasp of HTML or CSS. LAUNDRY LIST of how not to build a website.
Looks like the site has some good content, ad placement seems pretty good but coding looks a little sloppy
You've made a good start and have a worthy base to build on, now it's just about refinement. One point I would make is that it feels a bit sterile. I know the subject-matter is inherently of a rational and formal sort, but that doesn't mean the design has to completely follow-suit. Perhaps give your site a memorable identity by designing or having a designer create a mascot for your logo. You could pick a quirky animal or some kind of icon that you could re-work in a striking way. Think about creating some sense of visual identity somehow, something, anything to stick in the mind. Since your design skills as a whole aren't too sharp yet, this is the easiest route to sticking out. Don't go too novelty but just figure out a way to stand-out visually some how, right now you have totally neutral and inoffensive colours, which is fine... perhaps try spice it up or see what happens if you make the main navigation buttons multi-coloured, as in a different colour for each one... concepts like this will help break up the page and create definable regions and elements. As also mentioned, I would lose the double-sidebar. There's rarely a need for a double-sidebar, it takes up far too much room and only ends up blurring the lines of content and calls to action. Try making that sidebar singular and space things out a little more. Put more space between elements, headings and content and split things up with some colour or icons. Also, if that 468 ad isn't earning much for you, I'd consider losing it for now whilst you continue building your base of loyal users. Think of all the valuable return users you could be losing for a measly few cents or whatever it is you're earning from that. Judging by the amount of FB likes, you don't have a boat-load of traffic or loyal base yet, so consider making this as strong as possible before monetizing.
