Hello! There is a our website i would like you to check out. It's a google-maps based free ad listing service for real estate etc. I would like suggestions on ease of use, layout, anything. Please tell me what you think looks odd etc...

that's a very good idea... I think the website is very easy to use and does not really need any modifications

I think your site is a little plain. I would spice it up with some more colors, even a better logo.

The map is a little big, IMO.

I don't think your value proposition is clearly visible. Why don't you put that you're a free listing site directly under the header? People would then immediately know what you're offering.

Your property search fields (left hand side under the logo, right?) don't allow for state or locality searches...and all real estate is local. Take a look at how realtor.com or trulia.com do this for ideas.

I'm curious, how do you plan to make money?

what i had in mind starting this was 1) it would be ad-supported, 2) all the searches would be done on the map. When you press 'search', only results from the viewport of the map are returned, so there would be no need for locality. perhaps i would add geocoding search. thanks for your useful suggestions.

i have never been impressed with google maps for real estate. being a realtor myself, you miss out on a lot of properties.

that's why it's free - so that anyone can add properties. the map is just a tool for searching
