    Hi

Is there anyway to stop my sites from turning up in search results for specific keywords ... specifically my name?

I thought it would be "cool" to be first on Google or whatever but I don't like the idea of people being able to "find" me on the net so easily :/

Take any info on your site with your name off. It might take awhile but once you change site it should not show up anymore.

If you have name listed for domain owner pay to have it not shown.

I have to agree with rcj662. If you have a unique name, its going to be real easy to find you if your plastering all over your Myspace, blogs and other sites. Another alternative is to have a "pen name". Online, a lot of people know me as "Voasi". Although, if you Google my name, you'll find a lot about me too. But I don't really care either. :)

Just take off all the contents related to your name !

My site is searched in google when I just use my nick name !

I found the secret : I put my site in my orkut wishlist !

Add some good information about your site and add your name.

    Learn about reputation management.

This means getting 10 other sites onto the first page therefore pushing yours to page 2.

come on people, robots.txt is perfect for this

if it's Myspace, change your profile name and remove other refferences to it, then it will drop ;)

I'm not on about myspace etc .. I'm talking about websites I own e.g. my blog which has my name as my domain ... surely there is an easy-ish way to not turn up in Google etc? Someone said something about robots.txt ... what can I do with that?

You can stop your site being indexed with robots.txt

If you want to block the entire domain, then yes, robots.txt is the way to go, just disallow everything.

    See robotstxt.org.

It will still take a while for those indexed pages to fall out of the SERPs, though.

Looks like that's the way to go then. Is this all I need?
