"Reverse" Keyword Ranking Tool?

Discussion in 'Keywords' started by AZhitman, Jan 26, 2007.

    Hopefully I can explain this...

Is there a tool, by which one can determine WHAT keywords a site ranks highly for?

In other words, I know I have a site that is #1 for "keyword xxxxx". However, I want to input a URL and find out what keywords that URL already ranks #1 for (sometimes they're VERY unrelated).

Does that make a lick of sense?

I have never come across anything like that, but it would be a fantastic tool. Can anyone shed some light?

That would take access to either that site's statistics, or the statistics of the search engine. Either way: isn't going to happen.

very interesting idea. however think about this. i wouldn't say its not possible. (i havnt found a tool that does this either)

what if... you wrote a script that crawled though the entire content of a site. checked for specific phrases found on a site, stored them in an array, then checked the rankings for those key phrases in the SERPS?

That's what I'm thinking. I have Analytics data, so maybe I'm halfway there.

OK, who wants to co-brand a script? I'll finance it and market it if you write it. It's a win-win. :)

I can't post links yet, but this is what you're looking for:

This tool is free and there are other similar tools out there, but I agree that a well marketed script would do very well.

Nice work, nanobi - That's pretty close to what I'm thinking of.

Then again, I was playing around with it in Google, and I have some stuff I rank #1 for that made me LOL. So, might not be the greatest of ideas, haha....

Sometimes when I check my website status and the keywords from which people got to my site, they look just crazy I would never ever would think about that particular keyword, I think the point is content as more content you have as more people will be able to find you, because your content may rank for those keywords, which you would never ever think of. I dont think that it would be so easy to create a such a tool, because we talking here about infinity..

    Try seodigger.com :)

I love that you can sort the keywords through Wordtracker and Overture search count.

seodigger.com does exactly what youre asking for broad terms, not the best for highly niched sites but its the only tool of its kind i have been able to find

Yeah, seodigger works pretty well and if I remember right, you can search specific pages to find top keyword results for each page instead of the whole domain. You could also try keywordspy.com and spyfu.com. Both show a few keywords and have a free account you can sign up for.

Both reverse keyword lookup tools are great to spy on your competitors! Cheers, nanobi and pinkseo! My vote goes to SEOdigger, because of the tool from URLtrends doesn't always work.
