Is it even profitable? Just wondering if web hosting affiliate banners or similar might be better.

I reckon take it off. It contributes to a lot of rubbish posts.

Wouldn't also be better to take it off for the reason. Say there is 1000 people earning $1 a month. Thats an extra $1000 that can go towards paying for the servers and such. This may not be a huge amount. But Im guessing it does help.

Well considering that I have made less than $5 from it since I started posting here it won't impact my tax bracket, but I would prefer to keep it.

I override that. It's open to discussion until a decision has been made for certain either way. :)

I don't think it makes a difference either way. The question is how bad YOU want number 3 to happen.

    Added:
Coming to think of it, I made about $25 in 5 years being the top poster, so I would say the revenue sharing is not working as hoped for by many who it may cause to join this forum for all the wrong reasons.

My personal opinion - the revenue sharing leads to a lot of pointless post. This does more then just fill up the database with junk, it takes up a lot of server resources, and servers cost money. If the trash was removed from the threads, I am willing to be that this site would run a LOT faster.

If the revenue sharing is to be kept, then let it be for people that meet a certain standard. Such a being a member for at least 6 months, or even a year, and with over 1,000 post.

If you set the post requirements too low, people will post even more trash to reach the goal.

Haven't earned a cent from sharing but it's been less than a month since mine went in there. I make more from the whois site in my sig here than on DP.

Been seeing and reporting the fake sigs.

I think the post count padding is also mostly related post in the BST forums and sig links.

To be honest though, the real answer is it's really up to Shawn as it's his site.

I think is a waste of energy and value, at the end no individual makes a residual income.

I'm really sorry to hear this. I don't make posts on this forum solely for the adsense, I make posts on this forum because I like the site. I've made $1 in adsense earnings this month from DP..Not that it's much but I do feel it's a really cool idea that I make money just for participating in a site I actually like. Would love to see it stay around but I can see where you're coming from as well. You do have some valid points.

Have you ever thought about going to private ads instead of Adsense? I'm sure there's plenty of people out there that would empty their pockets to advertise to the 70,000+ active members here at DP.

I'm not sure what this site makes in terms of Adsense earnings per month, so I guess you would have to weigh that up against what you think you could get for private ads.

Good Point. I know I have wanted to advertise on DP quite a few times. But I think its 10k just to get an Ad in the Newsletter. So ads on the forum would probably cost a lot.

I think using a banner rotator would be good. You could mix in Private Ads as well as Adsense and such.

That really doesn't matter much to me. I've joined here in DP about 11 months ago, and I can remember that, I've got total 3 clicks within this time. A few days ago, DP was not showing Adsense ads, event there were no ads in home page. Then I also removed my pub-id from User CP, and never thought about to publish my ads here. Anyway, the idea of 'ad revenue share' was encouraging.

I have taken away my adsense id from dp. I don't want money but want activity here.
