Forum marketing is a tough thing for sure. Mainly because there are lot of established forums in most niches you can think of.

Lot of webmasters use revenue sharing as a marketing technique. Recently I have adopted that for my forum webcosmoforums.com. Its working quite well. Anybody like to share the experience?

If members join the the revenue sharing they have 50% chance of getting their ads shown on the threads they participate. If anybody clicks on the ad their AdSense account automatically get credited. We also have some paid members who work with me; if you are interested on that PM me.

Hi there, its interesting to know that you are using the adsense revenue sharing. I have just finished developing a script for one of my sites that I am about to offer adsense revenue sharing with and I was wondering actually how sucessful it has been? And has it brough much more traffic to your site?

    warm regards, Shaun

I'm doing CPM ads with my forums (in sig), and they make a lot more than Adsense in forums.

The experience has some pros and cons I must say. As a forum owner you probably gonna see significant drop in your personal revenue since you are giving away a part of it to the members.

The good side is you get more members. Lot of people are interested taking part of a forum where they may earn something. Although it is not that big, anything is better then nothing. I have seen a good number of sign ups, new posts.

:) Clone which way. Look/software? I am using vBulletin like many others. And look is not same I am sure.
Categories, yes there are some similarities. But I have a more compacted list of categories compared to DP. Well I don't want to compare my forum with DP yet, DP is the king now:)

Running a webmaster forum is very difficult now a days cause there are already some BIG forums running and it is hard to beat them.

But nothing is impossible, if you are working hard with your forum, your staff is good, your marketing strategy is strong then things can be changed. You will get good response then.

So keep working with you forum :)

Btw, I have joined your forum with the username (JANI) :)

Revenue sharing is great for the forum owner. Seems to me that forums with revenue sharing are just popping up everywhere. What I think is funny is that there is little to no money to be made by revenue sharing forums for the user, but the draw of making money by posting on someone elses site is just to much to bare.
