Revenue cut down over half overnight......

Recently, my revenue cut down over half overnight. I'm still getting the same amount of clicks and impressions, but my earning has sunken through the floor. For example, EXAMPLE, say I was at $20, now I would be at around $7. What has happened? What could be wrong?

"Overnight" is not a good gauge of what's happened. Give it at LEAST a week to see a pattern. One day drop-offs could be anything from a web host outage to your cat chasing the dog.

i agree 100% with above.. don't freak out on a day to day change.. when you see the trend happen over weeks or so.. that is when to be cocerned...

I notice the same thing on my sites. Earnings are down. I don't think it's because of smart pricing.
Could it be that advertisers are paying less and less for clicks or that Google is getting a bigger share of the clicks? Who knows?

How can you complain after one day? There are always fluctuations and it doesn't have to have anything to do with smart pricing either. Maybe your users clicked more lower appearing ads that day, maybe a few high paying advertisers paused a campaign, maybe more PSA's where displayed, maybe you had more foreign traffic. Theres loads of things it could be but nobody apart from google themselves can tell you why.

My adsense income is down at least 25% or more since the holidays are over... I think the Christmas season drives ad prices up...now that the shopping season is over I'm guessing ads are cheaper than usual. :(

Yea I would do weekly analysis too. Daily analysis way too vague. Obviously getting less revenue on monday compared with sunday is typical.

Daily analysis is far too short.

Also, maybe your site changed in that time and differently priced ads are being served?

GUYS, It's been staying that way. It happened about 2 weeks back... PLEASE don't make stupid assumptions. The drop-off of my revenue was cut down overnight, and has stayed that way till date.

Have you made any changes to your site recently that would have caused this? How are your traffic stats looking?

Since the beginning of the year, my clicks have increased (doubled) and revenue has decreased. I don't know why. Time will tell, I guess.

If you don't want to hear us make stupid assumptions than maybe you shouldn't have written a half-ass question filled with false information.

Now I don't know what the word "overnight" means in your part of the universe, but to the rest of us, it means LAST NIGHT. So yes, we made assumptions, but we made assumptions based on YOUR OWN WORDS. Now if you had come out and say it was "2 weeks back", then we wouldn't have "made stupid assumptions".

In any case, go suck on your 1-cent a click. I don't waste my time helping out punk kids.

    @jackburton2006: Just FYI overnight means overnight. As in, over the period of one night. Not last night.. Assumptions are exactly that, assumptions;
@everyone else: Yeah, I changed nothing on my site, but have been getting featured on Digg a good bit lately, could there be a connection?

Noobs tend to panic over daily changes. Those who are more experienced watch weekly and monthly trends. Therefore, noobs should relax and not try to monitor and influence short-term changes. Take a deep breath and let it out slowly -- and don't post to DP every day your earnings change.

Your asking at a forum what do you expect apart from assumptions? None of us work for adsense...Ever heard of emailing a companies support team when you have a problem?

Is this new amount the new level, or is it merely a single day? If its consistent then you've probably been smartpriced.
