Returning customers and click fraud - what's the deal!??

    Hi guys and girls!

So, I am a little concerned. I run a webhosting business and have a lot of returning hosting customers. Because I am running a free webhosting service (as well as paid ofcource) I decided to include adsense on my site to up the revenue. I also place ads in cpanel (just on the main cpanel page) - actually, I hope this is ok with the tos!? let me know if its not!!.

So anyway, to get to the point...returning customers may click ads on every visit....especially if they are happy with the free service and want to help out by clicking ads. Is this dangerouse teritory? Is there a chance that returning visits (probably from same IP address) keep clicking adds?

I assume that google caters for this.....but how can they tell the difference? eg. A returning customer clicking ads and a good friend clicking ads to help you make a buck!

By the way, this is my first post on the adsense forum and I would like to thank all you guys for the wealth of info!! I probably would have never started adsense If I hadden't stumbled across this forum....been running adsense for 2 weeks now and already into 3 figures :) ....very nice system (although I do invest 3 figures into adwords ....so not there yet ;) ).....but i can definatly see the potential!

Well, let me know. Appreciate any feedback!

    cheers,

    chris

Play by the rules and you should be fine. Forums, for example, have a very high % of return visitors and lots of them run Adsense without a problem.

Yes, thanks...I though so. If it was that fragile that it would crumble with a few repeat clicks then it would have never reached the side that it has. And what about having some adsense in cpanel? I have not read anywhere that it is not allowed....I have had my site checked by a google employee and they said it looked fine and wished me luck. But have not asked them about cpanel....should I?

Wow! You're up to three figures? Is that common for a site like yours? If so, I think I have a couple of domains I can put to use, lol.

Well, common...I can't say as I am new to adsense and this is the first site I am testing it on. But as long as the visitors keep coming then the clicks keep happening! I find my eCPM usually around $4-5 ..... so for every 1000 impressions....I'm $4-5 better off....nice system :)

I don't see anything wrong. You are not asjing them to click on the ads.

ok. I have emailed google about cpanel and will let you know what they say.

Another question....(I am actually studing the tos at the moment!) .....but whats the deal with ads on login/signup/search/password lookup pages.....so pages without clear content....are ads allowed on these pages? I read in many places that they are not.....but I asked a google person to check my site and they did not say anything about adds on signup/login page for example.....even though I ask them to check that specifically!? ...they just sayed "your site looks fine".

You can check out what i meen on my site at www.freecpanels.com

any comments/suggestions? should I be more carefull about where I place my adds?

    thanks!

    cheers
    chris

They recently revised the TOS and it's now ok to have Adsense on registration/login, etc pages.
