Long story short, I have been an adwords customer for about 1.5 years. I have not used it in a couple months because I was using yahoo instead. I came back to adwords just recently and got another campaign set up there. Well, these are about the same keywords I was using before and now the price has gone up on me. Before I was paying about 10 cents/click, now it is charging me a flat rate of 50 cents per click? WTF? Is this their way of telling me that they haven't researched my campaign yet? I'll give you guys a little background on the campaign to help you guys better answer my questions here. - It's not for sales, but to get members to a forum - The keywords are used by other sites, but very targeted with forum in the name - There are about 350 keywords in the ad group If you guys need more information, then just ask. Thanks in advance for the replies.
They have been running about a week now, with no change in quality score, or price? I am going to email google today and see what's going on?
Yes, thanks about the info about the campaign but you're not providing any info about the landing pages. The quality score most likely is the problem here... Need more info
Well, you can look at the site, it's in my sig. I think it's a decent landing page, it's a fishing portal, with a forum in the site. There is a lot of information on the homepage, so don't know what the culperate is here? I'll keep plugin away at it. Thanks!
So you are sending the visitors from your Adwords Ads to your index page? That is certainly part of the problem (but there may be more). You see, think about it from a user's perspective, you create an Ad and it says something like: fishing jigs then I click on the ad and I go to a page that says : My Fish Site Fishing Forums Is this targeted? I do not think so and Google probably thinks the same way that is why they ask you to pay more. Actually you're lucky they don't disable your Ads (providing the you actually have an ad that says fishing jigs..). In other words you need to send your visitors to separate targeted landing pages where they will be greeted with the appropriate message (headline) and that will improve the conversion too. Hope this helps,
So adwords is charging people more and adsense is giving us less? fishy. Back to topic, I agree with corlas, you need to let them know in the ad that you dont sell anything that its just a community forum. i think that will save you some money on people clicking your ad that dont even want it. Good luck
