Result comparison from $75 on Google and $75 on facebook.

Did a test a few months ago for Http://www.SlickGadgetz.com

I put the same $75 ad on google and facebook for about 1.5 months each.

Google generated ~$220 worth of order for me.
Facebook generated less than ~$40 of order.

I guess this is a single test so you can't say google is better than facebook ad. But just thought I throw this out there to see if others are seeing the same or the reverse.


Maybe it's the product I was selling, which I point directly to a Jet Lighter ( http://www.slickgadgetz.com/shop/viewitem.php?id=4179 )

Users usually end up ordering other stuff along with the lighter to get free shipping. I'm guessing that people who google zippo is more likely to buy lighters vs. facebook users who search for zippo are looking to be a fan of zippo page?


Please post your experience so we can all optimize our advertising dollar.

 

I also think that FB ads are not very effective, since people go there mostly to update their walls, connect to friends etc and not to look for services / product. If they need products / services, they'll search from search engines.

 

I see. That makes sense. I guess only facebook games/apps are good to advertise on facebook.

 

facebook is only pleasure for the people that touch on that site and to get connected with their family, friends and love ones

 

You will only make money on facebook if you build up a huge user presents not selling products at the begging

I have felt that face book is better for getting visitor but if we need business then Google is first choice for me

 

Yeah i did some tests and get the same results. facebook traffic is "entertaiment traffic", FB ads is good for promoting some facebook games or fan pages, can be good for some CPA offers , but not for selling the products

 

I agree...fb ads have got to be different than google ads in order to work.....they'll work....but you've got to change them to make em work due to the atmosphere!!

 

This is way I think the Facebook ad is overvalued. Plus I notice you do not get good visibility unless you spend a large chunk of change.

google is now paying much more than any other sites.

 

Yup , i have to accept that face book adds are not effective , people will be busy in their social networking , they come there for social networking nothing much , but in case of google , google place ads on all sort of websites , so google generates more

 

I have done the similar test on two of my sites. Both sites gave me more $ through Google CPC. the idea behind it is...The people who are using facebook are less likely to buy a product from you as compared to a person who is coming to your site though a targeted keyword related ad from Google.
