I've been waiting for about a year for 2 of my sites to get reviewed. I got a status report right before they shut down that forum and they told me it was waiting for review. One of the categories hadn't been updated in almost 2 years. I see that it was finally update on july 7 and my site wasn't added. I know that when i submitted them i wrote pretty bad titles and descriptons. I'm thinking i should resubmit with better information so an editor doesn't have to rewrite everything. My guess if it looks good of the bat they'll add it but if it requires editing they may put it on the back burner. I submitted another site with really clean title and description and it was added in 2 weeks. Any thoughts?
That will cause the "active editor" to just move the site to the correct category, where it will still sit just as long. So that won't help, sorry. If you got told it is waiting review then no, there is nothing you can do to get a faster review.
Just find an editor and give him a few bucks... give him more and he might even wipe out some of your competitors...
I remember reading somewhere along time ago that you should wait around 6 weeks before resubmitting. Forgot where it was though.
Yeah I even had the same question on the dmoz forums, I have been resubmitting my site for over 2 years and no change. If they have all of those editors then why does it take so long to validate a site?
Editors work according to following priorities: 1- Add their own web sites 2- Remove competition web sites 3- Devise different scams to benefit their own web sites 4- Devise scams to benefit from listing other people web site 5- No time to do anything else.
I no longer remember where it was. It was many dark winters ago and things have most likely changed since then
If you resubmit too much, your site will be "flagged" and then your chances of getting listed will be slim to none.
It's not a question of not "validating" your site. It's a question of rejecting it, or deciding not to bother reviewing it. That's one of the main problems with DMOZ. It used to be that you could ask for a status check at the resourceless Zone and be insulted by DMOZ editors in response to your query. Now, you can't even ask so you can't even get the insults. "From bad to worse" springs to mind...
I've never had a problem at resource zone. A lot of idiots would open up status check threads just to bitch about their wait or rejection. Look at this thread; you have people submitting every few weeks.
2 years ago I resubmitted every other month or so. No one has told me not to. Then I went into RZ and was threated like shit not knowing why. Communication is the key and that's no po-e-try
