Rest in Hell Zeal

I finally decide to give Zeal a try and realize the issues everyone else has, this is utter BS if you ask me:
If anyone has seen my site (portagame.com), it is a news blog. I only submitted just one portion of my news site. I do have an amazon shop on a subdomain, but I didn't submit that! It is a simple link, and to be disqualified because the actual portion of my site I submitted is news but has one link to an affiliate ran shop, that's just ridiculous.

Zeal never was, never will be.

Zeal's guidelines are ridiculous. It took me forever to pass that the test they used to have(and maybe still have) and submit my sites, and the resulting traffic was limited to me testing out the link.

Yeah, biggest waste of life doing those tests only to find out that 99% of your own sites are classified commercial ;p I guess it'd be good for content based sites.

    Yea,

    Had the same prob too.

It appears to me that these so-called famous or big directorries are just nothhing but bageros.

Dmoz and Zeal could be described as annoying, snobbish and impossible. Thumbs down to these 2 directories.

p/s Rest in pee dmoz and zeal

Yes, that !@#$ text still exists! After doing it once and failing miserably I realized Zeal wasn't worth the time or effort.

I got 95% and it still wasn't worth the time and effort. To keep an open mind, has anyone here actually benefited from Zeal? I have heard -some- good things about it and would like to know everyone else's opinion.

What good can come from an unknown directory that nobody uses and that doesn't even count as a backlink?

That's a classic example of today's situation - we're reaching that critical mass point where there're more people who own directories than people who actually use them. It punctuates the futility of aiming to get traffic from indirect links via directories. Sigh.

I wouldn't expect to get traffic from a directory. Even lousy dmoz doesn't send any traffic.

But the least I'd expect would be a good backlink from it

Tell that to the thousands of directories out there who still insist on using dynamic linking.
