    tips like:
where to buy, what domains to buy, what to do when you buy them, how many to buy, what to look when buying domains.

How to sell, where to sell, how to determine prize...

    So many questions...

Buy/ Sell - sedo, tdnam, buy sell domain section in this forum, ebay :)

What to do - Cash Park, develop, resell for profits

Determining prize - mmmm this is bit of experience. you can use tools as well but i dont trust them. (mostly overvalued), or can get free appraisals in this forum. (under domain appraisals section) or can get valuations though places like sedo
http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=84113 is a good domain appraising guide

How many - depends on how many $$ you got. i prefer quality domains than quantity

just a little advice - im not trying to discourage you. but dont spend big money buying domains initially if you dont have much experience with guessing the prize of a domain. start with little $$ and grow gradually

PM me if you need any advice

In terms of what domains to buy, you want to buy domains that will either generate traffic and revenue from cash parking, or that can be developed into sites for end-users who will pay $$, or ideally, both. As it stands, it is hard to find domains that are not already registered that meet those criteria. There are a few strategies that may prove successful, though. You can look through lists of deleting and deleted domains and see if there are any good ones that drop, I have found a few gems in these piles. I only stick with .com, some people go for other extensions but I think those are risky.

The best bet is one or two word domains that are search terms that people actually search for and possibly type-in, and that therefore can make money from cash parking. While many of the best are already gone, you can find ones that are not through two basic methods (in addition to looking through deleted lists). First, you can use google adwords or a similar tool to find keywords that people search for, search volume frequence, and whether people are paying for ads associated with those keywords. If you find one that looks good on adwords, you can check to see other metrics to determine if it is good, such as estibot, type it in to google (make sure if it is two words they are in quotes together) to see how many results come up, look in google trends to see if it comes up there, etc. Basically do as much research as you can on a domain before you buy it. Also look at recent sales over at dnjournal and in the forums to see what is selling and what is not. Lots of people list very crappy domains for sale in the forums and nobody buys them, you can learn a lot from other peoples mistakes. I come up with lists of 100 domains that I am interested in, and then pick the top 10 out of that list, and then pick the top 2 or 3 from those 10, and those are the ones I buy. That is a more risk-adverse strategy than just registering anything in sight, but it pays off better in the long run I think.

The second thing you can do to find available names is to use your own creativity or knowledge about trends in the world to find domains that may be good in the future. One thing I have done is look through lists of foreign names and surnames in countries where the population is expanding and internet growth is expanding and tried to find the most popular names that are available to be registered as .com's and that have good search term metrics. I have already had very good traffic and offers on many of these domains. Another thing is to read the papers and see what is going on in the world and what will be an important trend in 2-3 years. Then register some great domains related to that and hold them for a few years. That is more risky but the potential for reward is great.

Another thing to think about is buying domains from people that already own them, but may not appreciate their value. I did that with some nice US zip code domains right before the NNNNN.com (5-digit .com domains) were all bought out, and basically got domains for 5-10% of their current market value that way. This can be accomplished by reading domaining forums, understanding where the domaining market is going, and then contacting current owners of domains that may be willing to sell and are not aware of the market trends.

The big trend I am invested in is Chinese internet use, internet penetration is only around 16% of the Chinese population currently, and is going to boom over the next 5-10 years. I think this means that numeric domains, which are huge in China (easier to remember for people who are not familiar with the English alphabet and who place a great deal of cultural significance on numbers), will skyrocket in value over this time period. That's why I have bought NNNN.com and NNNNN.com domains, which already get good Chinese traffic and which are probably only going to keep going up in value, largely because of increased internet use in China. There are other trends sweeping the internet and what I would recommend is to read up on these (mobile phone searching, etc.) and think about what domains might be valuable five years down the road, and make careful purchases accordingly.

    Good luck!
