    Greetings everyone.

    My name is Garrick.

Originally from Hawaii, but I live in Los Angeles now (but they're almost identical, ya know  ).

Wore a suit for a long time and was a financial executive for a large public company. One day, I realized I didn't want to shuffle reports and attend useless meetings for the next 20 years, so I quit, resigning my professional life as an accountant. That was 5 years ago.

I now operate an EComm business out of my home. I really miss not being able to experience the LA rush hour traffic anymore, but hey, you have to make sacrifices.

When I first started my online store, I envisioned waking up each morning $10,000 richer. Boy, it sure 'sounded' easy at the time. We'll it hasn't exactly worked out that way, but still working toward that goal.

Anyway, just thought I'd pop in and say hello.

    Hi Shawn:

    Thanks for the welcome.

Yes, I was raised on Oahu. Moved to LA in the late 80's.

Now you've made me homesick from some Hawaiian food.

I just noticed my status is Peon. How do I get promoted to Sr. Peon? :(

    Way to go, Garrick!

Most people are too scared to give up the comfort of corporate life for something as "exciting" (read: "unpredictable") as owning your own biz. I went from an Auto Damage Adjuster for Geico Ins to a "Panty Pusher"...Who would of thought?! I'm not quite making the $10k a day yet, either, but that's why I'm here.

Oh yeah, if your ever in San Diego, there is the BEST Hawaiian plate lunch dive in Encinitas.

I agree, my wife and I figured we'd be rollin' in the dough by at least year #2 from our online store, but it hasn't actually happened that way.

We were brave enough to try quiting our "cubicle jobs" a couple years ago, but we didn't exactly flourish :( , so I am back at my cubicle dreaming of when we can try the at home thing again. We are counting down the days now and our online business and presence is growing bigger everyday, so watch out day job!

    I'm with ya'.

If all goes well, I'm about 6 months away from escaping my cube and being in business for myself working on computers, websites, and taking in a little $ from my sites. It's a big move, but no risk = 30-40 more years of the cube.

I'm in purchasing by day. Nothing is more depressing than having responsibility for spending $30,000,000 a year of someone else's money and then looking at what they pay you to do it:-(

Seems to be an eastward trend. I was born and raised in Long Beach and moved to the Six Nations Indian Reservation in 1969. Now in Montreal. At this rate I should end up in the UK in the next decade. :)

So Garrick, the million dollar question... "How did you get into women's panties?" :p And more importantly, "Is there money in women's panties?" Inquiring minds need to know! Is it a "drop ship" business or do you have to maintain inventory?

I too am looking to start my own online biz(es). One step at a time starting with either www.FilingTax.com or something in the hospitality industry.
