I'm looking to get a new website designed for a new blog I'm thinking about. Wanted to know what everyone thought of responsive design. Is it really important? Or should I not worry to much? I saw a couple random articles that said it's really important but I'm not sure I know exactly what it is or means... Thanks for your help! gns
Responsive design is a webpage that responds to the size of the screen it is being watched (it actually works on the size of the window too) I would say it is important since a lot of people watch blogs on mobiles or tablets and responsive design will help you give them a better experience.
You should have a fixed width when it's viewed on a computer, but have a mobile version as well. If you use wordpress you can get mobile plugins.
A web design is known as responsive web design, if the layout of the website can able to fit in most of the various screen sizes either it is the screen of the desktop computers or mobile, iPad, iPhone's screen. Responsible web design will help to receive the targeted traffic as well as make maintenance of the website easy.

Most Wordpress themes don't have built in responsive design . You would need to built it from scratch in most cases , however the required skillset isn't something common . Most people create some mutant webpages and call them "responsive" . Here are two examples http://morehazards.com and http://foodsense.is
Thanks for the response. I really like foodsense.is, it seems to adapt to a variety of screen/device sizes. Anyone have other cool examples?
