It is true import goods are more costlier in India compared to the other nations but its more over to the goods which are bearable by the consumers (luxury goods, cosmetics, solar products - not a luxury good but still its something govt. prefers local tech. to develop) The localized goods are given a higher importance as its the source for generating more employment to the population I can guarantee the housing you showed costs real less if you are in any other part of the country and it will be only costlier in the Urban cities, the photo isn't a surprising one for me - being an Indian but it shows the poor political standards as well by the greedy politicians Anyways, this sort of housing can be found in lots of places in South Asia along with poorer nations. so u been over to India or a residential areas such as the above the picture ? huh !! Stop judging .. There is good and bad every where not just in India and the picture is of a slum area. If u think all the slums are of such low-graded intended people u r highly mistaken. who the hell told u about the abundance of weeds ? I seriously assume you are way off target with a few movies like Slumdog Millionaire if u are a non-resident of India or south Asia. (or may be a resident of pak ) Yes, to get weeds is much easier in the slum areas but its not that - they are grown in public and sold. Usage of illegal drugs (marijuana etc..) is banned in India and any one caught would be sitting in the prison. First, learn/research about the place/issue before expressing them. May be u need to see other part of the Mumbai and India where the middle class, higher middle class and higher class people carry on with their lives. peace!!!
look giving out a few loans in one thing but IMF-ing countries for 20-30 years is something completely different...its debt slavery...20+ countries have been IMF-ed for more than 30 years!!!!!!!! if this is not loan sharking then I dont know what is... the IMF knows what its doing all too well... this is why I am such a big fan of bio warfare...fuck being helpless ... fuck the american "we are the police and only we can have nukes" bullshit... its loan sharking whether you like it or not...i cant explain the unreal amount of bank branches popping up left and right for a population that is BROKE ... ive lived all over the world an not even in developed places like London or Singapore did I see so many banks its UNREAL ...it is literally a turf war branches pop up next to one another and thats in the suburbs let alone the city center... my sister just quit her banking job because she could not take going to court and having to sue people out of their homes because her bank raised the allowed monthly rate of 1/3 of a persons salary that can be under credit to 2/3... every single banker I have talked to, and I know a lot, says the same thing: the finance minister is payed to keep quiet by the foreign banks... actually no...technology will advance, the US wall street government will keep eating shit like it always does and the world will end with probably a bio attack followed by a massive nuclear retaliation from the USA and then everything will suck... you see responsibility is for americans as well...you picked your wall street government and you are already paying the price...as soon as technology allows you will be made to pay even more dearly, I dont know in what way or form, but you know its coming...
poors and rich will be always- this is the nature of people, guys. untill we rebuild our mind - this will remain the same.
Interesting philosophy: Step 1: Develop bio warfare Step 2: Use bio weapons Step 3: Catch a nuke This is your definition of progress. Interesting. Classic. Long before foreign banks were f*cking your people over, your people were doing it to each other. Foreign banks just come in for a piece of the action at a lower rate, which is why they are so wildly successful. This is very true in central america. Today, as I write this, some large portion of the Costa Rican population has leveraged their real property out on 25% LTV loans at 2.5-3.2% PER MONTH. Foreign banks? Hell no. Its the locals doing it to each other. These types of loan products are very common in the third world. If anything foreign banks bring lower interest rates that what is being offered locally, its just a different person making the cash. Its one of the reasons micro-lending organizations are doing so well in the third world these days. Actually, no I don't. Worldwide capitalism, free trade, and interconnected economies are inherently more stable protectionist states. China doesn't attack the US because we are their biggest consumer. Were it otherwise, their profits would be going into weapons for expansion of their nice little empire of over a billion people. When Rome fell, it wasn't some outside force that brought them down. They did it to themselves. The demise of the US will probably be the same, but thanks for playing. By the way, when Rome fell, life didn't get any better in Judea. Who will you blame when the US is a third world nation and your life sucks even worse?
Yes you are right, but tax is not taken out because of lack of money with our govt. its more of corruption for their personal use.
I think Masterio is more on target with your government's motive, though I have no doubt some large portion of the taxes collected disappear to corruption. Foreign products are taxed to create an uneven playing field where substandard locally produced products have a chance to compete with more cheaply produced, higher quality imports. Its supposed to be good for local jobs and wages, but it has several nasty side effects. 1) Most sane governments who have to pay those taxes will charge the same tax on products produced by your country, keeping your country out of large, wealthy, and fertile markets. The US is often an exception here. If I were a conspiracy theorist, I'd say we do it because multi-national corporations lobby our government to keep them from reciprocating import duties, thereby keeping their offshore, tax sheltered profits high. 2) It lowers the standard of living for the general public by turning quality consumables into unaffordable luxuries. 3) It stiffles competition, so your "protected" companies don't evolve as they should. Personally, it pisses me off that our government doesn't reciprocate protectionist import taxes, duties, and VATs. Its hardly fair to say we can't increase our manufacturing base when our own government has allowed the playing field to be stacked against us. If we taxed cotton from india the way you guys tax our automobiles, I suspect we would be looking at a very different US and Indian economy.
This situation was at its height 2 decades ago. There was no company allowed to be here except Maruti in cars. Imagine everyone having the same car. Yes everyone had only one car. Now things have evolved pretty much. I mean really pretty much. The poverty hasent reduced to the extent the middle class Indians and high class groups have grown into. Now I think India is the in the top best place for companies that target middle class people. Now there are lots and lots of MNCS but the import tax thing has not been completely scrapped. The extent of import tax is such that it is in equilibirium such that middle class people are happy and politicians also get some money. Another reason that import tax have reduced is that Indian compenies are also now not that poor. Why does Us need to impose tax. Your companies does not face competetion neither your govt is in need for some extra cash.
Reciprocation. We should match our import taxes to yours until such a time as you guys decide to do away with yours. It would be the "fair" thing to do on behalf of ANY US manufacturer and worker. Oh, and thanks for the joke about our Govt. not being in need of some extra cash. Perhaps you haven't heard of our budget deficit.
no its like this: 1) develop bio 2) US wall street terrorist government starts eating shit 3) threaten the terrorists with certain death 4) terrorists stay the fuck home or go eat shit somewhere else if there is a step 5 then its your own fault... bullshit...20 years of US sanctions left the local banks and population broke...go back and read the word BROKE ... but the population had their real estate and the foreign banks moved in and loan sharked everybody... you dont have a clue but you pretend like you do...i like how you say "foreign banks? hell no its the local banks" ahahahahahahahahahaha you like to act like you are "in the know" it amuses me to no end... action=reaction... if your demise comes from inside and no nukes or blood then great your suffering does not make my life better in any way...all im saying is every country has a right to self defense against US bullshit...no my life will not be better when the USA is a 3rd world country but it will be refreshing to have the US monkey off our back...many countries will be happy to see you fuck off home...
well we are not a protectionist economy but we are more of a conservatory economy, RBI takes efficient measures to make sure we don't end up with might downfall like what US & EU had gone into the worst economic crisis. As I said earlier, the taxes are mostly to the luxury goods and not the daily use items such as as grains, food products etc.. Just for the record, India is 4th (if I remember the stats) in imports. So, u can't be importing a lot if consumers are going to have pay a higher tax. For $3 u could get approx. 2 and half litres of petrol, in a budget restaurant you can have full stomach for an entire day, and remember Petrol is also imported - we are not an oil rich country It was not that no other companies were allow laxman, but they had to pay heavy taxes which kept the foreign countries from making in-roads. In the recent years, the restrictions have been brought down and now international companies enjoy benefits such as tax exemption for exports and etc.. May be you don't remember the electronic goods companies having their manufacturing units in India - such as Philips (earlier it was Phillind), etc for more than 25 - 30 years give or take. US is a nation like any other country and its the taxes are something that roll on the economy. With out taxes, no country could barely make it out of their budgets leave about improving infrastructure. well if you do that, you would be in a more loss - as the cost of living would go higher. China is the no.1 importer for US, so just remember what would be the scenario of course yeah China wouldn't have grown into a bigger economy
No need to change your tune. You reasoned perfectly well where your little theory leads to. There it is in a nutshell. Life won't be any better with the US "monkey off your back". Its really just a matter of wishing everyone else's life sucks like yours. The words misery loves company ring a bell? Luxuries. The thing is Fords, Chevy, Toyotas, and Audis are not considered luxuries in most parts of the world. An Iphone costs you 700$(with a two year plan) while the same phone goes for $100 in the US. Amazing what a 9% import tax + 17.5% VAT will do. Thats the normal argument, but I completely disagree. Cotton and gems are our biggest imports from India. We reciprocate your import taxes, our offshore supply would shift to Nigeria. Its cheaper and they would be thankful for the business. Regarding China, we import a whole lot more from them, but I feel the same way. China doesn't charge outrageous duties on US goods per say, but they have a large and lovely VAT which applies only to imported products, making us non competitive on anything made here to be shipped there. Even if only 30% of China's population moves out of poverty, that is a consumer base the size of the United States that we are saying we don't need to sell to. The desire to not reciprocate China's import taxes for fear of a higher living cost is a lot like the desire not to discipline your kids for being bad or not stop eating donuts when your fat. Progress almost always comes at the cost of a little discomfort.
WTF ? Are you kidding ? Bio warfare is forbidden for a reason, it leads to total annihilation extremely fast . I understand that you're pissed off cuz the US bombed you but this is to far . Do you think the US and Russia stopped developing bio weapons because they're outdated or because it is a uncontrollable weapon ?
so you guy would rather face a bio attack than just fuck off home and mind your own business? LOL if you think the whole world is going to stand by and watch you arm yourselves to invincibility and then we all have to bend over and let fat americans tell us how to live LOL no its just wishing for freedom form US bullshit...I know americans think they are god given and have every right to tell others how to live and what to think its not about causing americans harm this really brings nothing...its just keeping wall street politics out of our lives by any means necessary...shit you have nukes and can deliver so why should anybody play by your rules? bio is a great answer for any monkey... @apocalypsexl american military progress will not stop...you are an invader nation and will continue to develop your murder machine...one day soon you will have killer robots and not real armies that even you will not be able to control... bio is the next logical step...its cheap and effective...hard to control? who gives a shit? some fat afraid american maybe...but for somebody with no future this is a great option... think about it a few amps in major cities and you dont even have to kill everybody the panic alone will cause you to become 9/11 pussies all over again...not trying to insult the victims of 9/11 just pointing out the nature of americans they dont take well to their own medicine even though 9/11 is a tiny attack considering what you do to others...shit you guys go out on the streets like lemmings when there are power shortages LOL...so some well placed bio attacks will have you all visiting the shrink 24/7/365 ... sooner or later you will learn to stay at home and respect others...until then i dont know what will happen bio or nuclear or who knows what...something will happen this is inevitable
What you think is a threat is actually a self fulfilling prophecy of your own destruction, and it won't just the US kicking your ass, once again. I know, i know, freedom from US bullshit, so you can massacre your own people. "Respect" others rights to commit genocide, or you'll develop bioweapons to force the world to "respect" you. What a maniac. Here is Christian Amanpour on CNN last night, talking about her biggest failure as a journalist being that she did not shed enough light and bring enough attention to the genocide in rwanda, or perhaps a million lives could have been saved. Its not in this clip, but moments prior to this clip, she was going on about how proud she was to be able to bring international attention to your little sh*thole and help stop the genocide that was already well underway. You ask for respect, but you deserve derision. As usual, glad to do my part in heaping a bit more on.
30% of the tax collected by the govt of India is from petroleum products (tax on petron diesel etc). isnt those essential commodities. have you forgotten the license raj. forget the foreign companies, N R Murthy has to wait 2 years to get a license to buy a computer, yup license to buy a computer and that too fu¢king 2 years wait time.
LOL look a guy with a hand grenade in a room full of armed thugs, gets the thugs full respect...get it? i hold a grenade you hold a gun= you do not shoot at me because you shoot at yourself at the same time...its very simple: leave me alone or die ...one amp in one random city gets millions killed you can nuke every single country in the world it wont save you... get over it you are not invincible ... well lets see we had 70 years of peace and then you gave support to internationally recognized terrorists and organ harvesters who want to separate because we were the most prosperous ex-commie now socialist country in europe... OH WAIT you never ever ever ever posted what was wrong with the former yugo prior to your separatist foreign policy? YES YOU KNOW LOL well they caught her lying 2 times LOL: On 22nd December 1992, during war in Bosnia, she reported from Kiseljak, not far from Sarajevo. In Croat hands, undamaged, well supplied with everything. "While people in Sarajevo are dying from starvation, the Serbs are living here in plenty."[21] On October 9, 1994, Stephen Kinzer of the New York Times criticized her coverage of the Bosnian War. Kinzer quoted a colleague’s description of Amanpour as she reported on a terrorist bombing in the marketplace Markale of the Bosnian city of Sarajevo: "She was sitting in Belgrade when that marketplace massacre happened, and she went on the air to say that the Serbs had probably done it. There was no way she could have known that. She was assuming an omniscience which no journalist has."[22] oh and its a good thing reporters are in the business of reporting the truth and not just selling news if it was not for her massive political connections one would think she is a great investigative reporter LOL as for her "dont cry for me rwanda" nobody gave a shit it was not good news it does not sell...pffffffffffffffftttt on her feeling sorry she is not can you read body language? look at amanpour talking 0:42 and 0:48 ...shaking her head saying no but her mouth says "yes" and then looking down and touching the eyebrow...thats 3 signs in 6 seconds...you know that you can read over 40 emotions just from the eyes? ...i cant read her mind but her body is speaking for her and this is something im very good at...not really trying to use this "body language" as an argument against a professional news salesman just thought you might find it interesting
For petrol we have double taxation method. The central tax + state tax not just central tax. Its the simple reason why prices differ state to state. I didn't mention essential commodities but I said regular eatable goods in general - I sure hope no one eats or drinks petrol The NR Murthy story goes ages back when computers weren't yet into flow, so I wouldn't argue about that. But if you think International ventures have started only now then its wrong. Importing products (luxury goods such as cosmetics, luxury cars such as Ferrari, Mercedes etc) was always a tax burden. Now, its a little better but not the most friendlier of conditions. @ obama : The reason why we are still continuing higher taxes is we don't want our economy to depend on other nation. We strive to be independent (though politicians won't allow us - corruption). I can give u "n" number of goods which have little to no tax for import.
Of course. Thats called protectionism. You are protecting your domestic businesses against foreign competition against which they cannot compete at this point in time. Truth is probably that your government is protecting the profits of a few extremely wealthy companies who are major political donors. Were you to lower your import duties, all of the citizens of India would benefit from cheaper goods, but those few companies would see lower profits, and perhaps cut Indian jobs. The question becomes, are those jobs and profits worth the additional money the rest of India has to pay for imported products. The answer is probably no. Either way, I don't like the idea of Indian cotton exporters making a fortune selling to America, while American auto producers are unable to compete in India because they are taxed at a much higher rate than domestically produced vehicles.
just to let u know, Chinese goods are real cheaper in India. Its not that all imports are costlier, its just the competitive & higher end product imports are mostly costlier. Earlier, only nationalized banks were allowed in India, but now most of the major banks in the world function in India - This includes American Express and Citi Bank. Protectionism means to directly ban a country goods but we are not doing that. In face there are goods from US and EU which are sold at a very affordable rates - which means the tax is deducted to certain commodities. Ford runs in India, Mercedes, Volkswagan, Hyundai, almost all the major auto providers are working now in India, only the higher end cars and SUV's are imported which would be highly taxable as they are affordable to the buyers.
