Oops. Sorry. Thats what I meant . Thats true, but from my experience, the places people think might be cheaper (poorer nations) are actually more expensive when comparing apples and apples. Take food for instance. In Central America, rice, beans, coffee, pure uncut cocaine, and tropical fruit are all local products that are available in plenty. For those products, your 3$ goes a long way. None of those countries produce their own cars, however, so buying a car will cost you 80-120% more, and even that isn't a fair comparison. None of those countries enforce import automobile safety standards, so vehicle producers like Toyota make "special" models stripped of many of the safety and luxury features the same car would have if sold in the US market. Throw on a 10% sales tax and a luxury tax for vehicles in excess of a certain value, and suddenly you have a variety of societies where only the wealthy have nice vehicles, if any vehicle at all. Housing is the same story. You might get the steel and concrete necessary to build a decent structure rather cheaply, but putting in quality electric switches, fixtures, appliances, finishes, etc can, and often does bring per/sqft prices of a structure above the cost of an equivalent structure in the US, despite the fact it was built with labor that costs dollars a day. So yes, 3$ a day is terrific if your desires are limited to rice, beans, and cocaine, and your housing needs are limited to a structure with bare walls that will probably kill you in an earthquake. Every country, including India, has a slightly different variation of the story, but the same rules apply. Even in cases where certain things are cheaper, other mitigating factors add up to make things more expensive.
Haha, no we have crack, public housing, and welfare, which pays closer to 25$ a day in California. No need to show up to work, and no need to declare any revenue generated from drug sales. To be fair, this is the type of housing you get for $3 a day, pretty much anywhere on the planet.
That's a shocking picture. I would hate to live like that, especially if it were violent, and crime ridden. This may sound odd, but they should plant produce trees, everywhere. They could probably sell the fruit in roadside stands. Even a community garden? Of course, they would need seeds. I would imagine, they could get donors willing to provide seeds, but, yes, what devastating poverty.
I was watching a program last night of one guy didn't want to leave because it was his home, the local authorities where moving people into modern housing with electric and running water and one man didn't want to leave. He described the apartment complex he was getting into as a "prison". The rising real estate prices in Mumbai, was meaning the land that their little tin sheds stood on was rising in value every month and developers wanted it. Weirdly enough most didn't want to move even though they where moving into some what luxury.
Nah ! It's a normal community. That's ok. A white woman like you would be raped 24/7. Your looking for trees ? There's abundance of it and grass. They have fruits of rapes. Selling at roadside prices. They have lot of seeds and a garden of weed and poppy. There are lot of donors for seeds willing for a price. Seriously, you guys need to spend holidays outside of the US. See the world.
oh i beg to differ...ill ignore your "genocide" off topic attempt at sidetracking every debate with "honest" US government propaganda and focus on "responsibility" I know this guy...in my book he is the worst guy in the world...I hate him but he does nothing "wrong" or "illegal" ...he goes out to town, finds pretty girls, chats them up and eventually gives them money..."heres 100 euros go buy something nice" ...nothing wrong with this when I first saw it...then next time he sees the same girls and gives them more money for "nothing" ...after 3-4 times the girls get used to taking money from him...then he asks for a "favor" ...to cut a long story short he makes whores out of normal girls...does not work with every girl of course but it works with most...now its not what he does that bothers me so much, its what the girls become that gets to me...his website is athensgirls dot com (do not go there its a SICK SICK site) he basically urinates on them and makes $$$$$...you would be amazed at how one can corrupt somebody in need with cash so to address your point: what the USA does is the same thing my ex-"friend" does...prey on people in dire need...now go ahead and pretend its the peoples fault your government and the oh-so-holy IMF bears no responsibility and that nobody forces them to take the money...
Athensgirls.com? Athens - as in Greece, as in the country that just took 115 billion off of Germany and the IMF to keep their government afloat for a year, while doing nothing about fixing the structural issues that created the need for the money? The same Greece that spent the $115 billion in one year and is once again broke, but now with a 150% debt to gdp ratio? The same Greece where the socialists continue to march in abject refusal to accept the austerity measures necessary to fix the budget issues? It sounds like your "friend" picked the right place to recruit prostitutes. Truth is, they were hookers long before he showed up. Pimps, Hos, Johns, and Cops. Everyone has a role. Know yours.
he named it athens girls for reasons not clear to me i never asked...the example has nothing to do with greece but corruption so in other words, just hypothetically speaking, if you have children and somebody gives them 100 euro bills for "nothing", you as a father, see nothing wrong with this? and, just for arguments sake, you find your child on one of these porn websites , would you: A) blame it on your child for being corruptable or B) shoot the guy in the face it all comes down to my example of the dying man in the desert that I put there...he does not have to take my bottle of water in exchange for his house...im not forcing him LOL
Wouldn't happen because my kids are taught not to accept gifts from strangers, just like they are taught not to incur debt they can't repay. I see you have a grasp of the concept that nothing is "free" in this life, but you still haven't mastered the concept of responsibility for your own actions. Neither. My kid winds up on a brass pole or in the pornography trade, that is reflection of my poor parenting skills, and my child's poor decision making. Of course I would do what it took to extracate the kid from the situation, including shooting a few people in the face, if that was what was required, but that kind of speculation is stupid because proper decision making and values preclude the situation from ever happening. Again, responsibility for your own actions. Nobody forced Greece to spend money they didn't have, they did it to themselves. Nobody forced them to take IMF money, they made that decision on their own. Nobody forced your fellow Serbs to create all the unrest, they did that on their own. Nobody forced them to commit genocide, they had to pull the trigger themselves. Having UN Peacekeeping forces show up on your doorstep was as much of a natural consequence as Greece's future poverty. Embrace the horror pal. Admission you have/had a problem is the first step to recovery.
oh well its an easy argument for you because you dont live in a no future 3rd world country... in the USA yes...in 3rd world countries your comment does not float... as i understand it the greeks will have to give up like 20% of their pensions so that ,money they never asked for, can be payed back.. personal responsibilty is when every single greek gets a cut of that 115 billion $$$ then you can claim what you claim....but to say "your leaders are picked by you so you are to blame" is like saying the victims of 9/11 deserve what they got for voting terorrist invaders in to power... what i talk about is called corruption and bribery and is illegal in all spheres of life just not in high end politics...
Well Greeks aren't exactly known for their workoholism ( and that was the case, since like forever) Illegals working their farms, etc, EU- citizens are working in decent hotels and restaurants. They just want to sit around and get paid well, that won't last anywhere.
Sure it does. Having lived in a third world country where whoring is practically part of the culture, I can tell you that there were more than a few "good" girls who would not accept "free" money. I suppose there were quite a few who didn't, but my understanding of Greece overall is that the culture is saturated with the entitlement mentality(just like Spain). I'm sure not every Gazan wants to wipe Israel off the map, but for the most part, yah they got the leaders they want. You are starting to catch on, but you stil haven't quite grasped it. If I were to buy into that line of logic, I would also sign off on nuking Gaza, Pakistan, and perhaps your lovely little part of the planet. After all, you picked your genocidal leaders. Fortunately for you, genocide and the targeting of civilians in military operations is much more a Serbian/Terrorist thing than it is an American thing, so your just desert comes in the form of poverty and economic isolation. Bon Appetite.
Hes talking about places that would allow such evil like the Red Light District's in alot of countries. I would never live in such houses getting payed $10.00 per day. I would rather live in the woods and make my own log cabin and hunt. Any rich person come buy I would have to jump them for survival. When they wake they will have a I.O.U
If it's just a tin shed, he could take his home sweet home with him. He could set it up on the patio outside of the "prison" and rent the inside of his new place to someone that likes electricity and running water.
"where whoring is practically part of the culture" leads me to believe that only a "few" good girls did not take the free money bullshit...you know, without a shadow of a doubt, that 95% of all greeks never saw a dime of this money... and your "greeks have lazy genes its not the super corrupt IMF and politicians fucking people over" theory is amusing... so the victims of 9/11 got what they deserved because they "picked" their leaders? its a simple yes or no question...
Why, because you say so? Another factless claim that defies logic. Lets apply it to the US if that would make you happier. Right now, entitlement spending is through the roof because economic conditions are bad. The Democrats want to protect the illegal immigrants because that guarantees them a voting constituency amongst their legal relatives. The same applies to all those government workers, both state and federal who are unionized. With such a large portion of the population dependent on government money, lawmakers face fierce opposition to any belt tightening whatsoever. Instead they opt to borrow more money, though we borrow from China instead of the IMF. The process is already unsustainable and at some point, it will become completely irreversible. It is at that point, that we will "get what we deserve from the leaders we elected and allowed to stay in power" and yes, I truly believe that. Most socialists dont get this, but you don't have to make each one of your citizens a millionaire to go through billions upon billions of dollars of borrowed money. A thousand here, a thousand there, a new profitless government agency here, another there, and poof, the money is gone. Did the Greek people get the 115 billion borrowed from the IMF and Germany? Your god damn right they did. Did Rep. Giffords and her supporters who were shotget what they deserved? The fact that you cant figure out the difference between the actions of a lunatic and the fact that spending more than you earn has clearly defined consequences doesn't speak well(again) for your logic skills.
so the democratic carrot on a stick does not work without the carrot...hell your government cant even do right with its own people so why on earth you think they have any good intent abroad is beyond me... this is where you are wrong...making countries in to loan addicts is not the same as borrowing a few quid here and there...some countries get IMF-ed for 20-30 years! imagine the impact on the economy and the leverage the honest honest IMF has on those countries that are now so deep in debt slavery that there is no realistic way out... we come to the man in the dessert example...I put him in the dessert but Im not forcing him to sell his house for a bottle of water...its his free will... its all a load of wall street loan shark crap... what george bush is not a lunatic? LOL.... i forgot he had the official seal of approval from "americans" who off each other like nobody else in the world...hell the USA has dropped more bombs than hitler "spending more than you earned" is bullshit...most of my country is in debt slavery because we got bombed to shit and then had to take out loans to survive...its not the same as "spending more than you earned" ... theres a western bank on every fucking corner literally ...its unreal the amount of banks that popped up...you know 20 years ago when our spending power was almost equal to that of democratic europe we only had 4-5 domestic banks total and only a few branches here and there...same amount of population but waaaaaay less banks...the rate they borrow at now is illegal in the EU for example...not to mention that our salaries are waaaay less than in europe...they KNOW that we cant pay back... you will say "blame your leaders" i respond: even if we kill the present leaders and install new ones they are still left with the aftermath of US sanctions and bombs and the damage has already been done...there is no way out...other than to develop bacteria and tell the west to fuck off...
We've been over this. The US government is a "loan addict", along with most of the rest of the planet's governments and citizens who are living on borrowed money. Had you thought your "blame the dealer for the junkie" ideology through, you'd be in the boat with the rest of the conspiracy theorists blaming the free masons, Rothschilds and Bilderbergs, instead of the US whose government itself is addicted to debt. Hell, look at the IMF head, Dominique Straus Kahn, a communist Frenchmen of Jewish descent. Hardly a spokesperson of the American credo. Anyway, I find your whole helpless attitude extremely pathetic. "We are whores because they made us whores". "We are genocidal because they made us genocidal". Absolutely zero responsibility for your own actions, which I suppose gives you a perfect excuse to do whatever the hell it is you want to do, while you whine and blame everyone else for your problems. Japan just lost some massive portion of it's population to a tsunami, had it's economy beat to crap, and lost a large percentage of it's domestic power generation to the worst nuclear energy disaster in history. If there ever was an example of a country that was victim to circumstances beyond their control, it is them. Ten years from now, they will be back kicking ass and taking names. The head of their nuclear energy agency has already fallen on his own sword out of "personal responsibility". Take a lesson and for christs sake, quit whining. Its pathetic. Bush was a mad man. How cliche. I suppose that makes the UN and US congress that voted with him mad men too. Oh, you already said that. There it is again. Everyone but you. Blame the banks! We have banks on every corner, and they are to blame for our problems! I never said blame the leaders. I said blame the people(in a Democracy), because they are representative of the leaders. Obviously getting rid of Milosovich left people like you behind and we expect you to be any different? Hamas was elected to power. As you say, you can cycle through all the leaders you like, but its the people that make the difference. Its why Japan will always rock, and you little part of the planet is going to suck for a very long time. There ya go, being the best you that you can be. Demonstrative of why we build prisons.
