    Hi,

Please suggest the best options for having streaming audio/video at the website without using dedicated streaming media server (I am not sure what that is !). I need information suitable for generally used shared hosts.

For future references, let us try to build a comprehensive list of all available resources and alternatives and their comparisons.

For a newbie like me, Google video or Youtube is the best option .... and may be esnips widget for audio streaming ! :D

    Thanks,
    Suman.

Can't you use your own website for streaming videos?

That is what I wanted to know ! I don't know any other alternatives right now and I cannot code for myself.

Please guide me to available (preferably free) softwares for doing this. In Joomla CMS I have some flash based audio streaming tools, but I need something for general purpose and not for any specific CMS. Please help !

Thanks ! I'll check it out. I am posting below a reply from other forum, just for reference.

"well yes you can stream audio, but that depends on the server,
    Wndows/linux
    has PHP/Java/... etc., etc.,

I would recommend you to get in touch with the Web Host's technical person.

then you might opt for a paid software like the one from RealNetwork
or an open source streaming software for Linux platform, if you have a dedicated server then this link might help you
