Hello All, I'm creating an interactive tool for my client where visitors can design their own setup of our product line in a 3D environment via flash, and then export the pieces they used to our shopping cart. So essentially what I'm trying to do is use this as resource linkbait. What are the best strategies for a initiating a resource link bait campaign? I would assume a combination of social networking sites (digg, reddit, etc) and forums where users are actually interested in that product line. But what if you don't have a low/non-exisitant post count for those forums/sites? What other strategies would you suggest?
If you keep your title and descriptions interesting on digg and other places, irrespective of your digg count your story will receive traffic and diggs/votes. I would also recommend that you participate in more webmaster forums and keep your site in your signature link.
What about for forums? I'd like to target automotive, fishing and wood working forums. Is it better to create my own account and join those communities, or try and spend the time to find forum posters in these niche forums? While this is going to be cool for techies, its mostly aimed at DIY people, tool people, or people who like to build/work on things in general.
