Resolve Unauthorized payment

I sold one article to a website. It was supposed to pay me after 20 days and yes, I got my payment yesterday. Now along with it came a shocking email of paypal that my account funds were on freeze and there is one open disputes and claims. The paypal column shows that the payment by the buyer is held and another row is there which states that the same amount which I recieved is on temporary hold. What can be the reasons?

I am getting these options while trying to resolve this issue:

I have not shipped the item and I would like to refund the payment.

I can provide proof that the item was shipped through an approved shipper to the address on the Transaction Details page.

I have refunded the payment for this transaction.

None of these apply to me.

As it was based on article, none of these is what should be the answer but then what will happen to the money I received? Should I talk to the buyer? Or Paypal ?

    Please help !

Thanks for the reply, but how do I tell paypal? I mean by going on to the contact us page and then or is there any way else to tell paypal. It is happening first time to me, that is why I do not have any clue of it !

You said you have one open dispute..I believe it is from the buyer. You need to contact the buyer via paypal panel or emailing the buyer. If the buyer is trying to rip you off, like the "paid now dispute later" scam, you have to contact Paypal immediately through contact us and provide some proof of the sale i.e thread url, conversation history, etc..

Calling PP is a good idea. Then from there, they will tell you what you can do. :)

I am surprised that even after having got a period of 20 days to verify the quality of your article, the concerned website pays and then raises the dispute!

The buyer does not seem to have great attitude and it would be prudent to directly contact paypal and submit them your transaction showing documents/proofs.

i think buyer was fraud nothing else

I have been paid by this buyer a couple of times before. And about today, I received an email from paypal stating that investigations are going on and you just have to follow the instructions and settle a claim. I wonder which option should I select from these:

I have not shipped the item and I would like to refund the payment.

I can provide proof that the item was shipped through an approved shipper to the address on the Transaction Details page.

I have refunded the payment for this transaction.

None of these apply to me.

As it is a digital product, none of these should be the most appropriate one. However, I am waiting as I also mailed the buyer and they said that they are in talks with paypal regarding the issue.

So I am thinking of waiting a couple of days more, is it fine?
