Yes, but not as efficient as one way link.

It is only good if the reciprocal sites have good reputation - which is why we need to be careful when exchanging links with other sites.

Don't forget that reciprocal linking is susceptible to fraud. Site A asks you Site B to reciprocal link. Sounds good. In addition to all the insightful responses above consider this: Site A then removes your link as it has too many outgoing links or whatever, thus site A removes their link to site B-you. You now have a one way link to site A and no reciprocal. Don't be silly- it happens all the time- just ask me! Stay away from reciprocal links IMO!

Reciprocal with related high traffic websites is good to improve keywords position through Google backwards links, also help to increase referral traffic for a website. Reciprocal links are long time links than one way.

That is 100% true. Just think about it - especially with directory type websites where you get a listing but you are expected to link back. And they won't guarantee your listing unless they see a link on your website. so you create a link to them - and it's probably a really cheap, bad quality website anyway that takes a billion years to update their stuff - IF EVER. meanwhile you've got a link to them on your website. PLUS those types of websites are always just expiring or closing down.. or they stop working. MEANWHILE you've got a link to them on your website!!!!!

Also - even if you think to a website you think is reputable. You're only doing it for the link back. what if that website goes downhill or expires or as Richromo says, DELETES YOUR LINK. dooooon't do it.

Yes. Its good if you both of your link placed permanently. Otherwise its not useful. Quality of link and relevancy is the main factor for reciprocal. I think most of webmaster wouldn't like to do reciprocal nowadays, it is hardcore to find out the most related link partner in the web. So that they feel happy to work with directory submission, article writing, press release, social bookmarking, etc..

There's some good advice on this thread. Above all, make it look 'natural'. If you try to over engineer it, you will probably end up leaving a trail.

I agree with Jeff Collision! Quality and relevancy is main factor for reciprocal. Usually Blog links are more reliable than websites, and more valuable than site links in terms of SEO.

In my opinion reciprocal linking is not much good for SEO. Reciprocal link from some websites with good page rank and contents is good. Quality of the link is the main factor to be considered.
