    Hello,

We are doing a study on Google Page Rank and Link Building, and we would like your opinion.

We are trying to determine how much more work would need to be done to increase page rank.

Scenario - You have two sites, both are brand new. Your goal is to get one to a PR1 and the other to a PR2. How much extra work (in terms of links and percentages) is going to have to be done to get the 2nd site to a PR2. (Double the work, One and Half times the work, etc)

Give us your thoughts so we can try to get some numbers together for the research.

The only person who could really answer that is google but I think to increase page rank you have to increase the number of backlinks to get to the next pr, for example:
    PR 1: 100 backlinks
PR 2: 200 backlinks + links generated to reach PR 1
So to reach PR 3 you would need a total of 600 backlinks but it also depends of the quality of the link so it could even be a scoring system that has criteria that determines the "quality" of that backlink.
