Rerouting name server

    Hi All,
I am in the process of switching over from yahoo to a new host.
My domain was purchased with yahoo. Since it doesn't expire for over another year, I decided to just reroute the name servers rather than transfer the domain to the new host.
So, I configured the new name servers, waited about 12 hours, and all was good. This was 2 days ago.
Sometime today around noon, I went to log on to my site and found that the domain reverted back to my old yahoo hosted site.
I rechecked and the correct name servers were still configured in the domain control panel. Why would it revert back like this?

Could be a problem with the DNS cache. Try deleting your DNS cache.

    Thanks,
It's a good idea, but I already tried this and still no luck:
    ipconfig /flushdns

How long since you changed the name server? Some times it even take more than 48 hours for the changes to fully propagate. And quite often, your site may bounce from one host to other until the changes completely propagate. Finally, it also depends on the ISP that how often the refresh their cache. I suggest you use www.opendns.com for better results.

Also, just check the name servers at yahoo again and also make sure that there is no restriction on changing the name servers.

Or you can PM me the domain and I will check from my end.

Well, its working now. Maybe I just needed to give it more time. The documentation said it would take up to 48 hours, but it was closer to 72 hours and I wasn't expecting it to switch back and forth like that.

In any case, thanks for your help.

    So finally its working.

But I still suggest you try www.opendns.com. They are having their DNS servers located in different countries and the best of all, they are safe, secure and non vulnerable to DNS attacks.
