    Hi all,

    I'm currently looking for a well priced low-end dedicated box.
    Don't care if it's refurbished etc.

    Minimum 1.5Ghz, 512M, 80G, with *minimum* 100GBW per month. Should be bundled with OS/CPanel etc if possible, and either *fast* reboot response, or cycleable.

    Prefer Australia, but happy to hear from UK/US.

    Now I know there will be plenty of responses (this is a low end box after all), so pls be brief but detailed in your responses as I have to read them all.

    FYI - the box will host three sites initially (needing min 100G) but may scale with few smaller sites -hence Cpanel bundle preferred etc. Will expect LAMP install.(linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP etc).

    I'm getting my next dedicated box from Godaddy.com

    I'm not sure if they are very cheap, but I think using a company that will be around for a while is more important than getting a cheap box from a company that might disappear tomorrow and take me down with them.

    The main bonus the the fantastic amount of badwidth they offer. 2000GB (two thousand gigabytes) on the largest server!

    My hosting company is using a dedicated from http://www.servermatrix.com they offer decent servers and there prices are good.

    I have a dedicated server from ServerMatrix. Their most basic box is a bit more powerful than what you have specified. I am in Australia also and looked around but the aussie deals were just not as good as the US ones. Bandwidth seemed to be the main thing that made the AU servers more expensive.

    There are some specials announced in the sm forums from time to time.

    I've used a 1.3/60/512 at rackshack (or ev1servers as they are now known) for 2 years. it runs 15 php/mysql sites at a very low cpu load. no problems at all
    $99 a month or you can get a
    Celeron 2 GHz
    512 RAM, 80 GB Hard Drive
    1300 GB Monthly Transfer
    up to 7 ips free
    unlimited reboots via admin screen or ssh
    = $119 with plesk

    you _are_ on your own with full root access but there are very helpful forums & people there

    The bandwidth requirement pushes you into the cheap bandwidth category. The server requirements are pretty low as well... I bet you could find something for under $100 a month for good service.

    The lowest server on servermatrix is only $99 a month, and their support is great.. they tend to aswner the support tickets I've had withen 15 minutes and have always been very helpful.

    Mopacfan, your recommendation won out.. had you PM'd me referral data, I'd have used it :). As is prolly obvious, I was in need of a quick, inexpensive fix. They have a good 30 day risk free program, so I have scope to change if necessary.
