Require a minor modification to a Wordpress plugin

I've a free ebay plugin - WordBay - and I want to modify the php code slightly. It does the following

Currently if the rss feed returns 0 items the script prints a msg "no items available".

What I want is to add, via the admin panel, an alternate keyword. So if the first search fails it falls back to the alternate keyword. If that search then returns 0 results, the failed msg is printed.

Still looking.. I wouldn't think this is to difficult..download the plugin and check the code. I basically need an 'if else' statement & a new variable.
