Yay, I can post here now!

I've thoroughly enjoyed reading all the posts here. Its safe to say that my knowledge has grown tremendously this past week. I've done my best to implement as much as I could, but I'm sure I'm lacking something. This is where I need your help.

    OptionsBuddy is the website.

    Here's what I need:

    • Overall design review. Is it aesthetically pleasing? Is it consistent throughout the site?
    • SOE optimization. Do I have proper keyword density? Should by title be the same on every page on my site? Main keywords I want to target are: options and covered calls. What should my anchor text for backlinks be?
    • Bugs. I'm sure I have some left. I've added new content since the last QA review, so I'm certain I've broken something. See what you can break it.
    • Content. I don't expect many here to understand what exactly my site is about. This gives you the opportunity to ask me the questions you feel my site is lack information on. There are stupid questions, but don't let that stop you!

Reputation points will be rewarded for those that provide quality feedback.

    Thanks in advance!

First of all, having this text above your ad violates TOS
"Please help keep OptionsBuddy free. Support our sponsors."

    Overall design review
    Is it aesthetically pleasing? Yes
Is it consistent throughout the site? Yes

    SEO optimization
Do I have proper keyword density? You should add more content so that you can use more keywords

It would be helpful to create a guide to trading options. You could make quite a few articles, starting with defining what options are and why people trade them, and slowing building up into strategies, etc.

Also, I would get rid of the vertical ad unit on your homepage, and add a horizontal ad unit (preferably that only displayed text ads) under your nav bar

Feel free to ask for any more feedback!

    Ahh. Will do.

I'm currently developing my financial news feeds. It will list the top 10 financial news stories that hit AP/Routers. I'm wanting to add some additional marketing copy to the front page, but I'm not really sure where yet.

I'm currently highlighting key terms which point to my FAQ page. Once the site reaches public release stage, I'll be adding How-To's as well as tutorials on how to use the site. I just want final screenshots so I don't have to redo them.

I agree with the tower ad on the front page. However, I don't want to switch to text ads simply because they make the site look cheap.

    Thanks for your input.

They may make the site look a little less professional, but they normally have a much higher CTR. However, it really comes down to a matter of personal taste :)

True. At this stage, I'm not all that interested in the advertising revenue. I'd like to focus more on enhancing the product. I'd prefer not to sacrifice content and general aesthetics to make a couple bucks with AdSense.

    Anyone else care to comment/suggest/critisize?

I just recently made some modifications to the mouseover event in the top25 on the main page. I tested with IE6 and Firefox. Can someone test in alternate browsers for me and let me know if it works fine? If you don't have an alternate browser, don't let that stop you from checking out the site and giving me a review. :p

    To test, go to:

    http://www.optionsbuddy.com

Scroll about midway on the main page and move your mouse cursor over the stock ticker symbol and/or the chart graphic. A popup window should appear that displays a stock chart and links.

The parts I would like tested are the links (are they clickable), and is the window aligned properly.

Thanks in advance for your help.

As always, constructive feedback will be rewarded with reputation points.
