    Hello DP Staff,

A few moments ago I received an infraction from mcfox and my thread was closed (http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=870247). I have read all of the rules at DigitalPoint and I do not understand how my thread was in violation of the forum rules. I had other DP moderators review my post right soon it was submitted (via the report button) and they did not voice any complaints.

Could you please let me know what DP rule I have broken, why all of the posts were removed, and why you decided to give me an infraction?

I always strive to adhere to forum rules and cooperate with the requests of forum staff. I operate several high traffic forums myself and I understand the importance of a well-moderated forum. Regardless, the actions taken against my thread seem a bit overbearing and the deletion of all the thread replies is just non-sensical. There was vital information in those replies that the upload participants can no longer view now.

Making People Bump Your Threads for More Information

You may not ASK for people to bump your thread by telling them to post things like, "I'm interested," "PM me the details," "Sold," "Give me the money," or other similar terms. (This includes things like asking "Who's interested?" knowing you'll get a bunch of bump posts, unless you specifically give instructions to PM you directly instead of posting in the thread.)

I think that is why you received an infraction.

"Please post below if you would like to take advantage of this offer or if you have any questions!"

The new rules say that you can't ask people to bump your thread, which is exactly what you did.

Ok, while I was NOT intending that statement to generate bump replies, I do understand how such a statement could be interpreted as a request for bump replies. This was a simple mistake on my part. Nevertheless, why did this simple mistake justify removing ALL of the vital information posted below, locking the thread, and issuing an infraction? A simple edit of my post along with a warning sent via PM would have been easily sufficient.

It just seems to me that mcfox took far too drastic action against the thread and I hope that another moderator can correct his actions.

You're lucky he just closed it. As far as I'm concerned, the adult link should have had it fully deleted. I also chose 10 random deleted posts from the thread to look at and didn't see a single one that didn't break the rules. Telling you what package they wanted to participate in belongs in a PM. Saying they sent details belongs in a PM. Saying payment was sent or received belongs in a PM. etc. Mcfox's call was a sound one.
