Requesting changes to existing link titles -- Good idea?

I've been poring over the moz reports (www.seomoz.com) for my domain, and am seeing that a great number of my best inbound links are using anchor text that isn't optimized for my keywords.

Has anyone else had this experience?

I'm considering reaching out to those various sites and requesting that they update/change their anchor text for me, but I'm concerned that it may result in either: mass requests for return links, or my links being taken down entirely. This is on the order of hundreds, possibly thousands (haven't completed vetting my inbound links).

    Advice, please?

    Thanks,
    Sharkpants

No, i haven't seen this before. The best you can do is to reach those websites and ask them to change your anchor text. In case if the anchor text, what you are currently seeing, are not related to your niche then it would be good to approach other webmasters but if they are related to your niche then i think you will be wasting your time in sending emails then reminder email to those webmasters.

It is even not sure that those webmasters will look into your concern and will take action immediately or may be no action.
