This is my second request for help. Unfortunately, my previous request was right behind ViscousSummers lingerie site review and my request for help was lost in all the questions about thongs! I only received two replies. My website is called “Patriots_Fan_Shop: Note. Remove the “_“ between the words and add the “.comâ€. I didn’t want this post to compete with my serps. The theme of my site is on selling sports collectibles for the Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox. I would appreciate it if I can get some suggestions for improving the site that would lead to improved SERPS. My keywords are all in my meta tags. Except for the home page, the metatag keywords are specific for the page in question. Every page has header tags and a unique title and meta description. I recently joined the Coop Ad program but I don’t believe I haven’t seen any benefit yet. Up until recently, I’ve focused on developing a theme related links page. Since I really haven’t seen much improvement in the latest Google update, I decided to start another links page with a links directory and will start linking to any high quality site willing to exchange links. I will appreciate any feedback and promise that all feedback will be reviewed and acted upon. Thanks
I guess I'm trying to be too cute with the URL. I just don't want this post to compete with me in the SERPS. The URL is "Patriots_FanShop.com" Remove the ""_" in the name.
My fault, Harold. I am a when all else fails read directions type. Did not read directions correctly. The first thing I do when looking at someone's page critically is look at title, description, and keywords. Your title is much longer than the 8 word limit I usually see quoted. I probably would cut to New England Patriots and Red Sox Collectibles The recommendations are 2 to 3 keyword phrases. For keywords I would probably go with New England Patriots Collectibles, Red Sox Collectibles or a couple of samilar phrases. Have you used DigitalPoint Keyword Research Tool? I would study it and make use of results. Description looks good. Layout looks ok. I would want to try to blend Logo in top left hand corner to match rest of banner with gradation in blue. Might not actually like it if I did it. As it stands it looks like postage stamp on letter rather than blending in. All and all it looks pretty good. You realize if you ask ten of us you will get 10 different answers. Good luck, Shannon
I would say everything looks professional except the logo in the upper left corner. It has some jagged edges in it. Looks and feels pretty good.
You mean underwears took precedence over sports? Lawd; have mercy! This one is going go down in the books. Make sure you keep this one girls! I suggest you put your url in at this url: http://www.delorie.com/web/ses.cgi? It shows you exactly what the search engine sees. You may want to consider moving any javascript coding to the bottom of your page; and navigation as well. When I first started with seo; my nav came up first. Once I moved it; I got completely different results.
Agreed. I would re-do it and use Photoshop for JPEG compression. It just can't be beat in that department (size AND quality).
I ran the website through this tool and it provided recommendations to place a small cell at the top of the left frame. I think this is the spot we have the date. I believe the purpose is that it pushes the rest of the left frame below the page body and allows the body (since it’s one big cell) to be crawled first before the frame. I’m not sure I believe this. From using other tools like Internet Business Promoter, I thought the spider crawls down the first column to the next column. I believe this piece of advice is saying the spider crawls by rows. Am I reading this correctly? Thanks for the feedback.
All I can tell you is that when I ran my website thru this tool; my navigation structure came up first: *not* the content. The only serps I saw were due to the navigation structure; and that was precious little. I knew I had to make a drastic change. I messed with my site until I was able to move the navigation structure to the bottom, while leaving my layout in place. It wasn't easy; but once I did it it was worth it. While I'm not a spider; I believe the spider crawls from the top down; and if you look at the results of your site; you should see this. If you want a clearer example, try this: Run this page thru the search engine simulator: http://thexden.org/meetings/budgetprojectionsfor0405.php This is a non tweaked page. The nav structure comes up first. Now look at http://thexden.org thru the search engine simulator: The content comes up first; not the navigation structure. Its on the bottom. And if you look at the two pages as a surfer; there is no change in the layout.
Sorry, as a designer I must say you need to re-design your site. Header/navigation looking not so good. Site is not optimized for 800*600 (38% of our visitors use this resolution) and for different browsers. Good content. Best of luck, Nat
Almost seven years later and the website hasn't had a facelift. I assume you're not trying to make any sales through it? I strongly suggest a full redesign is done as many people will assume it's not trustworthy enough. The header, the buttons and a change of site width is definitely something that needs changing. Shouldn't cost much.
