Requesting access permissions for an Analytics profile?

I'm in a situation where I need to gain access to a client's GA profile but they have no idea which of there many Google Accounts they used to set it up. I know the GA profile number but can't figure out how to request access.

In Adwords if you have the account number you can easily request access to the account as a user. You enter the number and the owner of the profile receives an email asking if they want to approve or disapprove the request. Can this be done with Analytics?

So far, there is no way to get access using GA Id. Do one you thing, setup a new tracking code using one of client's account and let them know(by the same time add you as user there)- it is only recommended if you dont need historical data. Otherwise you should go through all their gmail to see which one has the analytics. Clients remain busy sometime or lot of time non technical. In that case, prepare nice doc about how they can detect appropriate address where the particular tracking id exists then ask them to share (this way you can save your time + the doc can be used every time for every clients ;))

Thank you very much. I have no interest in historical data, is it possible to have two profiles tracking one site? Do you just add the two bits of code?

Yep that is possible (two profile one site). But if you have access to client site or you can add code, why not using one code and share with whoever you need (incl client)

Thanks again, I'm going to pursue getting access to the existing profile as I don't want to touch the client's site code at all.
