    Hi.

I am very new in the area of virtual servers, and need to proceed with the first steps. I am posting here because I recognize I need assistance from experienced users.

I transferred an existing domain onto my virtual server. The domain name movement has been finished. Still, the configuration of the server or domain is not yet done, because when calling "MyDomain.com" on my web browser, I receive the error message "You don't have permission to access / on this server.". Also, when calling the domain and the first file to be opened (usually automatically, but not yet on my domain) with "http://www.MyDomain.com/index.htm", then this file is not executed but offered as download. JPG files in sub directories are also not shown, but I get again the message "You don't have permission to access / on this server.".

The hosting company answered me that I have to check the HTTPD.conf file on the web server and also on the document root of the vhost.

I believe, they mean the httpd.conf file inside the folder of the server's Apache2 installation. There is such a httpd.conf file, but it's empty.

I need assistance about what contents should be inside that file, and what else I should do, too. Thanks.

if so, you need to create a vhost.conf file

where you can direct your domain
and place this line into the httpd.include: Include "/ your path to vhost.conf"
