You also get greened when you crack people up. That is not a bad thing IMO. Working online all day, people need some comic relief from everyday coding and hacking
The problem is that this forum, as its title says, is a Search Engine Optimization and Marketing forum. I agree that people need a laugh every once in a while, but sometimes this place just seems like another ebaumsworld site were everyone is acting like a clown and you can find 5 new polls for things as interesting as choosing if boxers of briefs are better.
I dont know. This general chat area is a nice break from the crap it takes to keep the rank where you need it. I kinda like it.
I red repped AnthonyCEA once... I kind of forget about the rep system. I could go for months without checking it until someone posts a YART and reminds me about it, heh.
I remember the first time I've ever been repped. I had no clue what it meant or how to return the favor. Life seemed so much easier back then
I know. I was made for days when someone gave me a red for posting a topic in the wrong forum LOL. Now I get a red or green and its not a big deal; but its interesting to see what posts give you reps.
The "Do you want to be in my Gang Bang" thread seems to be doing very well and I really haven't spotted anything much to do with SEO in that thread.
This brings up another thought... Since these forums are made up of people who will try and do sell anything and everything they can.. Why is nobody selling rep?
Don't know about selling rep but a while back a member was private messaging members begging for green. Think he crossed the line and was finally banned. Shannon
<ponders what he would do if someone PM'ed him asking for green rep> Oh yeah... Red rep... And that is enough from me... I really make it a rule to try and not discuss such things. I prefer rep silently lurk in the background poised to strike at any time.
Nice idea!! I should try that some time!!! Then I might be able to make that fake five green bar actually five greens. If I wasn't color blind, I just KNOW I would see five reds there!! I'm suprised I havn't been banned yet!!!
I agree, but when you get hit anonymously for every single post in a thread for sticking up for a non-member http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=26498 (he is one, now) it gets ridiculous. Either there was alot of rep spread in a short time by one person in order to hit me 3 times, or there are at least 3 daft people around. (Here it comes, I can feel it...) So how come nobody ever rants about anonymous green rep? Sometimes I just pop one without comment because of obvious reasons (most for a really good thread starter). Sometimes I rep and forget to sig... Sometimes it's obvious... But isn't the whole idea that you CAN do so anonymously? Isn't it kind of a community policing thing, reward vs. discipline, to keep us in line? And Gadood, you have a good post here... you get a green when I can give you one again, but I won't go tossing it around to others just to hit you again. Edit: You know, it just hit me - as fast as an anonymous red rep from shoemoney - it would be useful if you could give a comment without red or green... yellow maybe?
Isn't that what posting messages and PM's are for, or do you mean an anonymous comment? I think if the post doesn't warrant giving a red rep then you might as well make any comment in the thread or PM them. I suppose you could give a yellow as a warning shot across the bows complete with comment to that effect - actually I think 'strongly disapprove' (black) or 'agree wholeheartedly' (blue) buttons would add to the fun Cheers BP
I think requiring WHO REP IS FROM would make things a bit more fair. If its always the same guy you know not to care much.
