For the benefit of others, Bob Rae was leader of the NDP (a synonym for our socialist party) in Ontario and about 12 years ago or so by some fluke which shocked even the NDP they won an election and were the ruling provincial government. "Rae Days" were his attempt to reduce the cost of the public service without having to directly confront the unions which were the biggest supporters of the NDP. basically, the scheme was this: No one gets laid off, no one has to take a cut in salary, but each month you have to work 2 days or something for free. The unions were of course thrilled. So was everyone else. And at the earliest possible opportunity, the NDP was voted out of power.

In the last election, the leader of the autoworkers union supported the Liberals, possibly because even they could no longer support the NDP. Interestingly, after the defeat of the Liberals, their sorry-assed leader resigned and guess who is now running for the leadership of the Liberal party? Yep - Bob Rae.

 

I leave the country for just a short time and look what happens.. It goes to pot. Oh wait, no that was why I left the country.

 

What ever you do, where ever you go, DP is there.
