I've gotten a few anonymous reds on this thread as well. I stand by what I said. You should be required to leave a comment when leaving red rep. And I'll add something new (new for me anyway): there should be a way to report nasty comments in the rep area. I mean flame someone in a thread and you can get reported, but in the rep area you can curse people, or do whatever with no accountability. I just spoke to someone the other day who got some real mean comments in her red rep and it really bothered her. I'll admit that anonymous red rep bothers me. On this thread one person smacked me for 5 - that's like 10% or 15% of my total rep The funny thing is that someone who has so much clout would be so gutless as to leave red anonymously. It really ruined my evening (I had to stay up until 5:00 AM because I was too nervous/upset to sleep). It may be sad that I care so much about my repuation but what else do I have on this board? Anyway, as I was saying. Why would someone who swings for 5 not give some constructive criticism along with the red? Why not give a name? Seriously, just show yourself and tell me why - what am I going to do about it? Probably help me sleep better as well.
i always get a red by someone with a power of 5. also on this thread. probably a rep whore. another time the comment told me not to bump old thread. "old" meaning 20 hours. so don't worry, jim.
Now this is the right way to insult someone! I know I shouldn't let it bother me Fryman, but it does. Other than this red rep though I have a very happy life Fact is, if people just took a few seconds to explain why they were red repping then nervous types like me would rest so much easier... The other sad fact is that a few more 5 smacks (just took my second in less than 12 hours) and I'll have a red square. What then? Do I get banned? That would suck. I'm just trying to contribute to this thread. IMO whoever doesn't like my ideas should say so in this thread, not through anonymous red. Old Welsh Guy is right - it is gutless. I can imagine someone too scared to type "I disagree because..." so they leave anonymous red instead... I think that's the biggest problem here at DP.
Best thing to do is keep your mouth shut and move on... if you keep crying about your rep you will only make things worse... people here are just SICK of moaners complaining about their rep and are ready to push the red button as soon as someone starts their tantrum.
This is exactly why I think DP has a problem. The best thing for me to do is leave this thread because people disagree with me? Honestly I'd rather voice my opinion and get the red square or the ban.
I don't see why you will get a ban, but you will get a red square... you might think you are "voicing your opinion"... but we have seen the same thing over and over and over and are just sick of it. Do you really think anyone of us worries about your rep? At least I have more important things to worry about... and so should you.

Dam, I’m still getting reds from this thread!!!! I agree with you they should actually have a language filter. I personally hate getting bad language. I think you taking this to personally, just forget it and go on posting. You’ll recover your rep soon enough. Come on fryman be nice now
There are hundreds of people here and your opinions can never suit everybody. I got both green and red rep for the same opinion at one thread. People should not abuse the rep system / use as a gun, esp. against newbies. Getting a red rep for a simple post will not encourage newbies to post and giving a red rep will not earn a medal to anyone. Let's be a little tolerant, thanks.
I don't think anyone is red repping because the person is a newbie Complaining about reps, posting nonsense, & abusing other forum members are some of the possible reasons why you get red reps. Make sure your contribution here is valuable to other forum members, in that way you will will end up with more green reps
I would not complain about reps actually. I'm here to get/share info and that's important for me. But when I saw I have both green and red rep for the same opinion, I was confused and now I prefer the trade section (itrader rating is a much better, useful and realist system for me.) and just reading other threads. There is really useful info at this forum.
I’ve been reading the latest threads about the rep topic and think there is some major misunderstanding going on. Because I can be considered a newbie I will try to clarify a few things. What I think most new members don’t understand is why people are sending negative rep instead of leaving a post on the actual thread. People send negative reputation with the following comments: I don’t agree, I think you wrong, not true, well I disagree. I posted this “sites that get 200~300 unique visitors per day are crappy†and received a red with the following “200~300 is not crappyâ€. What I didn’t understand was that this is common practise and there is nothing wrong with it. I honestly thought that rep points was a way to keep the forum clean of spam and reward the members that offered the most useful help. So when I got a red for no reason I didn’t understand why and naturally asked “red madness startsâ€. I think that newbie’s aren’t complaining they’re just not use to this system and when they receive negative reputation naturally ask why. I also think that some older members take advantage of this and start an immediate attack. From reading peoples complaints I think they are more about the fowl language that comes attached than the actual negative rep. So fellow DP members don’t be sad it’s Friday!!!!
I think you can do better!!! Maybe try using Photoshop!!!! Also I think with the F#â€$#ED would be more PG13 friendly!!!
