Hi Friends, Feel free to advice your thoughts on Manage reputation of a site on Google/Yahoo / Bings specially when site have alot of bad reviews/blogs & posting on high PR sites. Also suggest some software which we can use while we do reputation management. i do not want list of reputation management sites I want discuss the methods...
Since reputation management applies to brand searches, some obvious ways are to get more URLs that your company owns showing up on page one when someone searches for your company name. One common way is by creating sub-domains. They are treated as separate sites and can therefore appear on page one in addition to your site's 2 possible SERP listings. Having a wikipedia page is another way to get a "friendly" URL on page one. Then of course, having company Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn profiles. These are all relatively easy do-it-yourself methods to fill page one with friendly URLs for a brand search. Build links to all of the above with your company name in the link text. If you have to resort to "real" reputation management, that gets a bit nasty. Most companies that are effective at this are oversees (Isreal, Romania, etc.) because they frequently utilize "shady" (i.e. illegal) methods to derank the offending sites. They use lots of methods: - DNS poisoning - Building tens of thousands of links to the sites from their own networks of thousands bad neighborhood sites - Hacking into the offending sites, planting hidden links, and reporting them to Google. - Hacking into the offending sites and planting 301 redirects that are only seen by search engine crawlers. - Contacting sites that link to the offending sites with spoofed emails saying their domain name had to be changed due to trademark issues, and asking them to link to that company's "new" domain. You'd be surprised how many will change the link. A few weeks later, they spoof emails so they look like the email is from Google telling them to change the link to be in compliance with trademark laws. An email that appears to be from Google gets a lot of attention. The list goes on... Basically, rather than trying to outrank them, reputation management companies will often try to cause the offending site's rankings to fall. This is also used to compete in very lucrative, highly competitive verticals like online gambling.
