I'm a member of another forum geared specifically for freelance writers and copywriters. There have been recent issues on the forums. Unfortunately, many writers don't realize the impact that forum and social media postings can have on their careers. In response to all the activities, I wrote the following: Freelance writers have nothing, without a reputation. Freelance writers just starting out should focus on building a reputable brand. Without a reputable brand, it is extremely difficult to obtain paying clients. Trust is the Key Can your clients trust you? Trust is the main selling point for a freelance writer. Potential clients need to feel confident about hiring a freelance writer. Additionally, a freelance writer often obtains clients through referrals from other freelance writers. Freelance writers who cannot cultivate an aura of trust will not be able to benefit from peer referrals. Talk is Cheap Incompetent freelance writers will always be outed. Clients and other freelancers talk. It is the nature of the business. Freelance writers who burn clients and other writers are treated like lepers. Freelance writers known for missing deadlines, or turning in poorly written content are never successful. Networking is Necessary Networking is part and parcel to becoming a successful freelance writer. No man is an island, and neither is the freelance writer. Freelance writers should make an effort to become part of online communities focused on business, freelance writing and niche interests. It may require some effort to join and take part in conversations on various forums and communities, but the effort is well worth it. Freelance writers should remember a few guidelines before participating in online discussions: Joining an online community does not automatically enhance a writer’s reputation. Lurking for a short period of time is smart; lurking perpetually is pointless. Being an expert and being a know-it-all are not the same. Community members talk; writers who burn other members quickly become infamous. Yes, there is such a thing as a stupid question if you forget to read the FAQ. Guard Your Reputation Disagreement is inevitable. Freelance writers and clients can clash. Freelance writers and other freelance writers may not get along. This is an unavoidable part of online and offline life. However, even during disagreements, it is vital for freelance writers to be positive and constructive. Freelance writers should make an effort to demonstrate that they can behave in a reasonable and rational manner when issues do occur. Before disagreements occur, freelance writers should be careful in all community interactions. Some helpful tips for participating in online communities are: Always project a positive image. Avoid appearing self-righteous or holier-than-thou. Religion and politics are always fascinating, but rarely profitable. Always engage other members in a positive manner; public conflict should be avoided. Freelance writers can get gigs in the most obscure places. It pays to be vigilant in all online interactions. A positive encounter can lead to a paying gig, while a negative entanglement can destroy a promising freelance writing career.
Reputation is also barrier for new comer at all industry. Try to make good customer based which recommend to you and honest with them
Reputation is not only important for freelance writers, but also all businesses people who're seeking for development in today's market, especially on the Internet.

Great point Sophia Myles. Hi GradeAMoney! I'm from Hendersonville, NC and worked in Asheville, NC last year as a case manager for the homeless. (AHOPE) I moved to Bear Creek recently, but I have family in Hendo. I'm always heading out that way.
