I think with too much YARTs and anonymous red rep thing, something had to be done, i think the decision is right, but i (and many others) wont agree with retroactive thing. Good point. I think its just one point deduction, no matter how much rep power you've. You get deducted off one point for every red.
Once you get over the initial shock, it will help in the long run. You're still green, so I wouldn't worry about it.
You don't loose the same amount the person you are repping losses. It's just a simple "cost" of 1 rep point when you give someone red rep (regardless of how much you affected their rep).
There should only be green rep...no red rep...so everyone has green rep and everyone is happy . (rep doesnt mean much anyway...) The rep giving power should depend on average rep recieved per post and not absolute rep...this will bring new users on equal grounds and they can rep equally as established members. It will also discourage some users from making useless posts to increase their post count.
I want the world to know that I am in love with the most amazing girl in the world!!!!!!!!!! Now I understand Tom Cruise when he went bonkers at that Oprah show... That would of been cool!
It seems this forum becomes more about rep every day =( Slowly... Why not just let people see who is repping them and leave it all full strength? End all this bs YART discussion.
Okay, that time I really did puke a little bit. It only went in my mouth, so I was able to swallow it... so keep it up.
Yeah, I see your point. I'm still to distraught to think about it in a neutral sense though. I worked really hard to get the tiny amount of rep I had. (I've noticed you have to work a lot harder to get green rep in the sales forums). I don't want to sound like I'm complaining. Really. But one of my vices is standing for principal - and for me, this is a case of principal.
Right on! You don't see me posting pictures of my wife. Or maybe I'm just a grumpy old man because those baby (as in human infant) avatars also bug me.
I agree with you completely about the retroactive part. I hate finding out after the fact I have to pay for something. But - in the end, like I said, rep doesnt mean anything, so its not really costing you anything. One thing though - with the retroactive rep cost - people who would have had much less rep power still had that effect, when retroactively they didnt have the power. im not sure im explaining it right - but for example, if fryman (sorry to pick on you bud) gave someone red rep yesterday, they lost 10 points or more. but today he doesnt have that rep power. that part of the retroactive equasion really makes it a bit unfair.
fryman still has a power of 8 for affecting rep, as he has more than 7k posts and every 1k posts increase your power by 1, plus he has been a member for more than an year, so that gives one more extra point for altering others rep, total is 8.
