I have been considering republishing articles (articles that I am allowed to republish) on blogs to get the blogs started. Is this a good idea (as i can accomplish it in a night) or a bad idea (waste of time?)
It's good in that it gets you more articles for your website, bad if that's all your website is instead of just occasionally using some
Hello my credit card competitor It is not a good idea to start a blog purely with republished content. Those pages just won't get indexed. If you use too much duplicate content you could get penalized. Mostly it would be a waste of time. This would be more acceptable if you just mixed in one republished article every week or two. You would be much better off to pay a low priced writer to produce unique articles/blogposts for you. Try elance.com or the marketplace section of this forum.
Apparently, and that's the way I see things... The internet itself is a republished content basket... Quite obvious... One news websites publishes a certain news and blogs all over reiterate it.. they just add their own opinions.. But, at the end of the day, you have duplicate content, no matter how much you deny it by covering it with 'rewrites'.. So.. republishing content (provided you have the rights/permission) is actually a good idea. Go ahead.. I'm sure you'll get indexed.. that's a given!
Go ahead and use it. All things being equal, the page that has the most quality links to it will win, even if the content originated on another site. There is no dupe content penalty except on the same domain. It's much too big of a problem for even google to handle, so they can only remove dupe content at the time the SERPs are rendered.
Even if those pages do get indexed, they won't get any search engine rankings. So the pages still won't help much at all. If someone comes across your blog, they will see that it is obviously republished content instead of unique content all written by one blogger. They will have no reason to want to bookmark your blog or subscribe to your rss feed. Blog directories probably wouldn't approve such a blog either. It is a bad idea to take shortcuts like this. Yes there is a ton of duplicate content online, but there is a difference between just posting duplicate content and posting it with your own additional unique comments/views.
Whatever buddy. I highly doubt you have done any testing, nevermind across that many domains. I call BULLSHIT. A new blog that only published duplicate content has very little chance of outranking the other websites that already published that content a while ago. If you publish duplicate content on an established, trusted website that is a completely different story. In that case, it may be worthwhile. On a new blog, it is a waste of time.
Google tries hard to index and show pages with distinct information. This filtering means, for instance, that if your site has a "regular" and "printer" version of each article, and neither of these is blocked in robots.txt or with a noindex meta tag, we'll choose one of them to list. In the rare cases in which Google perceives that duplicate content may be shown with intent to manipulate our rankings and deceive our users, we'll also make appropriate adjustments in the indexing and ranking of the sites involved. As a result, the ranking of the site may suffer, or the site might be removed entirely from the Google index, in which case it will no longer appear in search result.
It's all about links. (internal and external) In my testing, I have got a blank page to rank. (talk about a "duplicate" page!) There are other factors such as domain age, authority and page rank that affect rankings.
Ok johny, I'm gonna make a point to not reply to any of your comments. I still think you're full of shit. For one, who would have the time or resources to do tests across 2000 domains? Also who would take the time to get a blank page ranked? You talk as if you know lots about seo yet your 'location' url is a junk website with the exact same title on every page. Good luck with your bs'ing.
Allot of good info here. I think that I am going to go ahead and test it out. I'll keep it separate from the blogs that I am already publishing (i found a good writer for $0.01/word and plan to keep him booked till the end of time). I'll let the blogs age, and see what happens.
I'm one of the original Stompernet members. They are undoubtly the best SEO guys on the planet. That's where I got most of my training. If at all possible, have unique articles written, it's so cheap nowadays, but you can get by with scraping content. I do know one thing for sure, if you're not testing, you're losing. Just ask anyone who makes over $100k a year online, and they'll agree. P.S. that "junk" website does $400 million a year in sales.
Ok I'm gonna contradict what I just said about not replying to any more of your comments..... HAHAHHAHA!!! $400 million!! HHAHAHAHA!! You can at least try to be believable with your bullshit. You're a joke. I don't give a shit about stompernet either. That is for people who can't learn for themselves. They are not the best seo guys on the planet. They are just the biggest seo whores.
Wow, you are an angry one.. I can PM you our annual report proving the sales figures, but you woudn't believe that either. Here is a youtube video about us: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5BK5eY-TrFo As for us Stompernet members, they have created 66 new millionaires since they started. With 15 world-class staff members earning $2-$22 million dollars each on their own e-commerce businesses. I don't claim to be one of those guys, but just in your conversations, I'll bet any one of them forgot more about SEO that you ever knew. Do you think anyone would continue to pay $800/month if it wasn't worth it?
I guess not everyone is smart enough to become a millionaire through stompernet. Keep bragging about other people's accomplishments though. HAHAHA
