I was wondering something. If someone sent me an email, can I legally post it to a webpage without violating any copyright laws? Seems to me that by virtue of someone sending me an email, they are subject to the possibility that once it's in my possession, I can show it to anyone I wish ..... Your thoughts on this?
ok, let's hypothetically take this further: I recently came across something on hotscripts called "adhancer" which takes email spam and creates it into a dynamically generated webpage - kind of a spam version of a MFA site - while I can't even remotely think of the usefulness of something so worthless, it got me thinking about using the method for more meaningful things - so, I was wondering how much hot water you could get yourself into if for example you subscribed to some sort of ezine and republished it on a site - my thoughts on that is it would be like anything else and you would need authorization from the creator of the original email
If you subscribe to an ezine and want to publish it on a website, you first get the publisher's okay to do so. Most ezines say that you can not use part or whole to send on via email or publish via other means, including sites. I subscribe to a few that have some excellent material and I just ask for permission to reprint just what I want. Most times, I get the okay as long as the links are live and the original source of the material is mentioned.
