Reporting Website to Google?

I recently found a competitor is ripping off my product descriptions (word for word) and they are ranking better them me for those products. Can you report something like this to Google? Apparently I got hit with the "duplicate content" penalty and it's MY content.

http://www.google.com/dmca.html is about the only route you could possibly take for something like that.

however, you could also try writing to the site that stole your descriptions and pictures. get a generic C&D drafted up and it may be enough to scare them off. :)

    good luck !

I sent an email to them and the descriptions were pulled off within 10 minutes. I still think they are bastards though ;)...haha

How do you know you were hit with a penalty?

Accept the complement, they thought your descriptions were good enough to copy :)

I didn't do much research, but since my site is bigger, better and my content is (or *was*) original, they shouldn't be ranking above me for product searches.

But you haven't lost indexed pages or anything?

That site just ranks above you? I don't think there's been any "penalty" imposed.

I love those "Sexy Womens Costumes" your selling, who are the models? Did the wholesaler provide? or do you have a secret studio with just as stunning ladies as yourself :p

If the pages in Google only have the URL and no header and description, then it's possible that this is due to duplicate content - there are other reasons why the page isnt indexed properly, but from my experience, it's nearly always due to duplicate content.
