Does anyone ever report SE spam to google, and does it work? I've noticed many competitive sites that will use -Doorway pages. multiple versions loaded with keywords that will refresh to the homepage -Hidden text white on white.
I really think google doesnt care anymore. Recently I go a email that was sent to a number of webmasters that were competing for the same term. It probably went out to the top 200 or so (except for the scrap/spammer) It had all the spammers information and sites they had registered along with all the emails @ google to report them too. I didnt report it but the sites the people were encouraging others to report are still ranking #1 for the keywords. I think unless you have a huge adwords budget google really could care. Just imo.
for me I just go about my business. I run sites that will stand the test of time with dedicated users. If some dude beats me for some keyword then so be it. I do not report it to google I figure they make enough money I am not going to work for them for free. I am sure they have a line of people already to report such spam
I used it many time but of no use. I do not think google has some much time to manually check 100's of spam report filed daily. This tool is also used by bad people to harash popular sites.
I remember reading somewhere that Google does not remove URL's or pages manually. It's all done automaticly via the system. So if someone is doing something wrong, they may already by on their way out via the next update, but their removal may take some time.
Thats how it was explained to me also. They implement new filters so the system will updated itself instead of making manual changes. I think that is why you see entire domains suddenly completely blacklisted or delisted.
so in a case of a search for "adult homes seattle" there is a company that has multiple pages: www.choiceadvisory.com/ adult_family_homes_seattle_d.html www.choiceadvisory.com/ assisted_living_homes_seattle_d.html leading to their homepage. Is this considered spamming the SE?
HA HA HA Just wanted to comment on the links you posted. The are smart spammers. Since there is no content refresh to piss off G, they use a mouse over to do the the forwarding, and escape the code. **************************** onMouseOver="eval(unescape('%6C%6F%63%61%74%69%6F%6E%2E%68%72%65%66%3D%27%68%74%74%70%3A%2F%2F%77%77%77%2E%63%68%6F%69%63%65%61%64%76%69%73%6F%72%79%2E%63%6F%6D%2F%27%3B'));" ******************************* Now that is smart!!!!! tom
I reported a couple of sites 2 months ago and still they are on page 1 of a keyword..I actually thought Google penalized me instead for reporting it since my ranking drop ... lol
I am just wondering why... webmasters need to report sites they think useless and want google or other search engines ban them. As I read once in this forum, it says that search engines was created for web sites... so what I understand is that all site created for their own purpose and they deserve to be listed in search engines.
I disagree. A site is created for its own purpose, but a search engine is created to help users find relevant information. If a SE is cluttered with useless scraper and spam sites, the user will leave and use something else. Simple really.
I think they care about. Also I think they are improoving their algo to automaticaly detect spam because is imposible to read and check all spam reports.
I wrote and asked Google and this is their reply, Thank you for your note. Please be assured that the information you submitted in a Spam Report was passed on to our engineers. Because our index contains over 8 billion pages, it may take us some time to investigate all of the reports we receive. We appreciate your patience during this process. Also, please keep in mind that we don't always take action on individual sites as a result of these reports. In especially egregious cases, we'll remove spammers from our index immediately; however, we generally use this information to make large-scale improvements to our system. We hope that if you encounter similar sites in the future, you'll submit a report at http://www.google.com/contact/spamreport.html We appreciate your assistance in maintaining the quality of our index.
Dear Friends, This is not a complain, just a fact. I have a competitor who is taking advantage in hidden text and duplicated pages (in the same domain and differents domains), and earning a good ranking in several important words in my field. Also, I spend lot of my time advising Google via http: // www. google. com / contact / spamreport . html, since April/2005, and nothing changed. Is it working fine? Maybe I am unfair with such sites, so if somebody could confirm such bad practices, please let me know how to advise Google about that. The sites with hidden text + duplication are below: http:// www. bravocomputadores . com .br http:// www. bravo-computadores .com .br http:// www. bravotecnologia .com .br They belong to the same company, and use a massive word density for Technology side. Regards,
No need to advise Google. Just worry about making your site better and they will eventually get caught.
