Reported Listings

I have installed the report mod probably more than half a year ago, and all the reports were that a link is dead.. that thing did it's job.
Suddenly, in the last month received three reports on stylerunway.com - they all say that they don't deliver the things and everything.

Now, have you received reports on that listing too? (I can see they are submitted to many directories).

I have a feeling that it's just a campaign against them

    What do you think?

I haven't received those reportings, ive only ever had the feature used properly twice i think.

Usually they use the report function to say "Nice site, buy viagra, teen f**k whore buk*ake, thanks, rasputin. :)

Its quite possinly what you mentioned.

I always wondered why so few directories have a decent "report link" function. I actually appreciate being able to use these things if I've changed a url or if other links in a category I submit to are dead. I know I'm in a minority.

I suggest you ignore the reports, Shutzu, unless there's direct evidence of fraud such as a published court case. Only remove the listing if it breaks your guidelines. It's probably a disgruntled customer, but there's no way you can mediate in every dispute between these parties. It's not your role as a directory owner, although people who don't understand directories very well might mistakenly think it is.

I've faced this issue before, although not on a directory. Make sure your disclaimer is clear, and that you don't guarantee anything about external websites you link to. This person may be telling the truth, and then again he or she may be making things up in order to smear that website and get its links taken down. But no matter who is the guilty party, do you really have the time to investigate every such claim?
