Have you noticed this in webmasters tools ? Google tries to facilitate reporting people who buy links.

    Website selling links:

    Website buying links:

    Additional details:

    That's just ridiculous!
It's like fighting against the Internet piracy. Remember how successful RIAA was?

But don't waste time, go report your competition :rolleyes:

As much as i luv Google, they can kiss my ass, buying links is a great source of traffic and is very beneficial to all webmasters.

So how do they know who is and who isn't buying links to build traffic and not to "manipulate results and deceive search engines"

What happens if we want to buy links to increase our traffic? Are they going to penalize us because we want to increase traffic to our website/s ?

Seriously, Google, kiss my webmaster ass. ( who's with me )

Here's the best competitor annihilation technique :

    - make a payed directory
    - add all your competitor sites in that directory for free
    - report them for buying links
    - (optional) ask for huge amounts of money for a listing, so that google can see how much they payed, and what sort of link buying maniacs they are

Success is guaranteed. E-book coming soon !

Thanks, sounds good, but i'm not sure it's not just a blabla (sorry Matt) to avoid loosing popularity by this new system when simply can report each website who selling links. (and all we know 99% on the net PAID links = paid directory links)
Btw. can you give the source of this discussion or it's from Matt's blog?

I agree with @Velocity. It is nothing to do with directories.

Directories are supposed to have sites. And someone can maintain quality without charging $$, but some needs $$ to maintain quality. And they deserve it, as they are giving internet index.

Also, see on the report page of google. It says google already have algo to detect paid links. And If you see the links and effect of paid directory links, it is positive.

Getting Paid Directory link from quality directory is worth investment, but taking paid link from paid crap directory is not bad or you can say it as you are buying link from FFA.

It is very difficult decieding what is a paid link. DP allows links in your sig, some people sell that. This obviously amounts to multiple paid links. But it also amounts to a barter on DPs side links for posts. Will google devalue sig links from forums in the same way as links for articles aren't as effective anymore? Probably. But the keyword is 'devalue' - links in articles still work but on a much smaller scale.

In that case Google should be banned from google as they are buying links from me.

Every time I display a google adsense ad, that means that google has bought a link from me.
