I sent an query regarding the debit issued by Indian bank and here is the answer i got from them
Nowhere it is mentioned that indian debit cards can't be used for verification.
Can anybody shed more light on this.

never heard of them accepting indian debit cards. I once even talked to ICICI help center b4 i was forced to get a CC just to verify my PP.
ICICI people were very clear about telling that their debit card cant be used to verify PP account. They never gave any good reason for it though.

The problem is not with paypal. Indian banks dont allow to use Debit Cards for online transaction but only at ATM and merchants physical outlet.

You can use hdfc virtual debit card to get verified in paypal. Hdfc virtual debit card simply mean you are purchasing a virtual debit card by spending money in your account. For paypal, they ask 2$ for verification. So purhcase a virtual debit card in HDFC by spending around Rs.85 from your hdfc account. They will immediately give you a Visa debit card number. Use that number in paypal and get verified.

Just go to www.hdfcbank.com/netsafe and create a virtual credit card usable online instantly using your hdfc debit card.

    Check ur Debit card ?
If ur seeing that international debit card then u can use them for verifying ur paypal acount. But not with others

Indian Debit cards are issued by VISA,MASTERCARD etc but they block the online transaction with them for security reasons.
I think in India most of the banks issue debit cards for even zero balance accounts for free. And think a case if everyone got a think that they don't know the real importance ?

    So they block !

Indian Debit Cards can be used but it IS NOT allowed by Indian Banks as they dont allow debit cards to be charged in foreign currency. or they dont allow cards to be used for foreign currencies.

So, probably when it'll charge, it wont be accepted by the bank adn card as well. You can try yourself.

it says that a debit card that debits in your checking account can be used! but then if you use the visa card of SBI you won't face any problem!

the whole concept of verification is to get the money of your your pocket in a charge back situation!:)

You can use Indian debit cards if they're International cards. Most banks provide you with just domestic cards though, and these cannot be used to verify PayPal accounts.

Call up your bank and ask them if your debit card is an international card or not.

This is definitely not PayPal's fault, it's the bank's.

    Hi all,

I am from India using a International HDFC Debit Card. It is the problem with our bank, not with Paypal. I received this response from Paypal today. Kindly check this out.
