Replacing Publisher ID in Adsense coding

    Hey Guys,

    In regards to Revenue Sharing in Google Adsense, is it as simple as replacing the publisher ID? Will that work or does the user have to do something from their Google Adsense account?

    Also while doing some research trying to find an answer to that, I heard that DigitalPoint here does revenue sharing. Is that true or still current?

    Interesting :p But so is it possible to replace the publisher ID of an AD?

    For example, the AD that's on this post here has the following code:

    <script type="text/javascript"><!--
    google_ad_client = "pub-5676236325709660";
    google_ad_slot = "4950497015";
    google_ad_width = 234;
    google_ad_height = 60;
    //-->
    </script>
    <script type="text/javascript"
    src="http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js">
    </script>

    Now if I were to change "pub-5676236325709660" to my publisher ID, and put that coding on my site, would that AD revenue be going to my Adsense account? Or would I have to create an AD within my adsense account? Or would i have to change the ad-slot ID too?

    Maybe I should try it instead haha

    You're not allowed to modify adsense code in any way. That means you can't change publisher ID.

    Simply paste the AdSense ad code into your webpages without making any modifications.

    Ahh, ok. Then how come DigitalPoint was able to do it up until 2009? And then in 2009 they optionally opted not to use it anymore.

    Sorry if that sounds rude :p Just curious on the background of DigitalPoint.

    I think the revenue would go to your account, but using the ad slot of the other account... so maybe it would work like the old-style AdSense codes.
    If you're looking to dynamically generate AdSense codes, use those old ones instead. If you weren't there in those good, old days :) check out this site: oldadsensecode.com

    DP either created a custom plugin for the revenue sharing or just used a plugin from vbulletin. http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=135079

    If you want to know why DP removed the revenue sharing, just read the whole thread you was linked to in reply #2 in this thread.

    If you change the publisher Id whoever owns that publisher id will get the money (unless he has the "allowed site feature" on and your site is not on it)
    Changing the publisher id is not modifing the AdSense Code and is not against the TOS

    Yes, because you are interpreting "change" wrong.
    If you compare e.g. a large rectangle code from my account with yours, you see that only the publisher ID changed.
    You are allowed to have more then one publisher id ads on your website as long as it only contains 3 ad units.
    So yes, you can change the publisher Id and google will serve ads from the other adsense account. As simple as that.
