One of the three DVD writers in our tower has gone faulty,
What should I look for in a replacement, if I cant find this particular DVD writer.

Lots of cheap writers on ebay, but would drivers be different?
or could any DVD/CD writer be used as a replacement?

You should get a replacement if its in warranty.try taking it to the service center.or you want to buy a new DVDWR then Go for SONY or LG DVD writers .

    Thanks

    Out of warranty,

Basically I need to know will any DVD writer work with the drivers that are loaded for the other two Pioneer writers?

I don't think there is a need to install drivers as i have never installed drivers for dvd writers. all dvd writers are compatible with Windows OS without drivers
