Repeating links throughout a site

    If you have identical links on most of your web pages to a few other sites does Google penalise you thinking you're spamming or pretending to be a network?
    And likewise if Google finds that site, and penalises it, does it then go to where those links are pointing and penalise the recipient of the link?
