EDIT: D'oh! February 17th 2005) I have to read more carefully. Still...

A bill was introduced on February 17th to repeal the 22nd Ammendment!

    http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c109:H.J.RES.24.IH:
The 22nd Amendment deals with presidential term limits, and has been in effect since 1951.

You did some good research. If the 22nd amendment is removed, this will create a precedent of over turning other amendments in the Constitution. Basically we will go back to having a damn monarch, someone who can be a president or dictator for life.

Im from Aus and we have no such limitation...but damn I wish we did...We have to watch the same old tired politician chanting out the same old mantra...Economic Growth, Jobs, Economic Growth, Jobs, Economic Growth, All that matters is Economic Growth...SING IT WITH ME!....

I respect Howard for what his done, economically...but thats all he is capable off, essentially he's an accountant...you certainly couldnt call him a leader of a any sort,..somebody who takes an interest in many differant areas of debate. His a 1950's man, a puppet of business, and he cant see anything outside the daily balance sheet.

Now the guy has been P.M for 10 years...just "celebrated" his 10 years in office the other day...We so desperately need a change I really wish we could implement some sort of limitation...2 terms should be enough...and thats about 6 years.

If I was in the U.S I would be totally opposed to overtuning this amendment.

Why would I want to bring back any of those things? We are supposed to live in a "free" society. Do you want one man to be president for his entire life? We might as well go back to the middle ages.

You're right lorien. What is the point of living in a democracy? We should go back to the dark ages and have an all powerful king who rules over us all. I mean why not repeal the first and second amendment while you're at it? Maybe we should get rid of the Constitution, and replace it with the UN Charter?

I mean, Bush has "only" joked about being a dictator, and Alberto Gonzalez says he is above the law. He tries to sell our ports to DPW, which breaks monopoly laws.

But I guess being a slave to an all powerful king is great. In fact, maybe we can get someone like Vlad the Impaler in the white house.
